I think if this was ever to happen the importance of having Pep here plays a huge role. He wouldn’t dictate what he’d want to do around Pep, the mutual respect is so high they’d both probably see it the same way

I'd still do the deal if he were to accept a pay-as-you-play deal and it was no more than £50k a week.

For the brand and commercial spin-offs alone, coming on with 20 minutes left, it would be worth it.

Sadly, I'm sure his ego would not contemplate it, but if it's about winning another Champs League trophy, we would be primed for it next year.
£50k per week plus CFG share options / New York stint after / global ambassadorial roles, commercial partnerships etc to supplement it?

“He came from PSG, we paid him secretly!”

Wasn't it all verbally agreed and ready to happen a few years ago and then he decided to stay?

Can't see the club putting themselves through it all again to be honest.

Only reason I think they might is because it is still Messi and he will likely win the Ballon d'Or this season so it would be a huge commercial signing as well as quality.

As much as the club finds themselves in a different direction this is a once in a lifetime signing. I just wonder with a new Haaland deal & Jude deal happening how important this would be.

It would be monumental for our brand and CFG, a huge fuck you to not only the Premier League, UEFA and any other organisation that wants to come at us but show the world how far we have come and we aren’t just oil blood money we are the best place in football and will be for years to come.

Out of curiosity - why should he take that deal? He’s probably about to win another Ballon D’Or, is a recent World Cup winner and is still producing good output in terms of goals and assists.

Just because he’s not at the peak of his own powers, he’s probably still currently better than most other’s peaks. Certainly better than somebody on £50k a week.

Not coming off the back of any career-threatening injury and has commercial power enough to bring a lot of money in. He’s old in football terms, sure, but still fantastic. Not sure it would be ego that would make him reject that type of contract. Just realism.
