Going to take a lot of restraint on my side to allow myself to not think about this happening. Literally zero concrete rumours (or any rumours at all) about him coming here this time and it goes against the grain of what we do in the market.

But it’s Messi. And it’s Pep. And it’s an unbelievably opportunity commercially (look at his instagram). And it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s been an aim for the hierarchy since the takeover.

Barça are making noises about pulling even more levers to re-sign Messi, but why bother after being so desperate to get rid 3 years ago?

I reckon Barça are claiming they want to re-sign Messi as a romantic appeasement to their fans, but they're skint, & have no wish to return to the days of the Messi Circus which all but bankrupted them.

Unless Messi intends to play for next to free, I can't see a Nou Camp return. Messi's next move's got the Rags or Chelsea written all over it.

If we were even remotely interested I'd trust the club hierarchy to do a deal the right way with all aspects covered from contracts to how he would affect the squad, the tea lady etc, etc.

I think Pep could still get a tune out of him for a season or two without any detriment to how we play or our enviable mentality as a group. You don't just get Messi the player, you get his footballing brain even if his physical powers are on the decline.

Don’t want him at all
Missed the boat and we’re better off without him
Relies on everyone working harder to allow him his moments (like Argentina did)
He has added nothing to PSG in two years
