In the next 2-3 years we will probably be losing Pep, Sergio and David. But I wonder could there be another another big retirement in that period, of Lionel Messi ? That’s assuming he joins us this summer which is perhaps unlikely, but not impossible. Straws in the wind...

With Xavi gone and Iniesta going, maybe this is the time for Messi to take up a new challenge away from Barcelona. If so City must be high on the list, particularly with Pep here.

There is that photograph of Messi and his friend Sergio with a City youth team that made me wonder.

We do need another attacking player, but maybe it should be a younger player. Any thoughts?

I think you're right about this being a landmark season. Barcelona may be champions, but teams around Europe like Real madrid, Bayern, Juventus are not the forces they once were and the twin axis of Messi and Ronaldo is in its last season.
