It's crazy how people think he wouldn't be a positive on the team. The man just led arguably one of the two best leagues in the world in goals, dribbles, and assists. And that's despite the mess that his team is currently in. He'll walk into our starting line up, inspire the next generation of city youngsters and annoy our PL rivals as a bonus.

Maybe he should consider moving back to his homeland and play for his local side, messi wasn’t great last night but to be fair neither were the other ten players, but he is starting to slow down which happens to all players unfortunately..

Again...what have you people been smoking?

32 goals. 26 assists.

Why would someone who's outperforming every other player in Europe "go back to his homeland"?

You might as well tell De Bruyne to go back to Belgium, because he can't put up those numbers, and he was anonymous vs. Arsenal.

He is on the decline and isn't the same Messi and would cause more problems than it will solve. Even the rags will think twice about signing him.

Was coming in to ask this. Would he improve us on the pitch?

Of course he would. He’s better than Kevin De Bruyne and if anyone watches Barca week in and week out then they’d see that.

Imagine putting on the Arsenal semi final and deciding that De Bruyne wasn’t that good based on that game. It’s a similar scenario.

Messi is also better at the age of 33, and by a distance, than David Silva was in his prime.

Messi doesn’t have the legs he once did but he’s still faster than Silva ever was and he’d likely do amazing in a midfield alongside Kev.

Messi....KDB
.....Rodri

A Messi on the decline is better than David Silva in his prime and by a huge distance. Hell, he’s better than KDB still.

But he can't press to the extent that Pep and the Premier League demand any more. It's why he's moved from the wing at Barca to up front. Again, I don't doubt his ability and his numbers, but I think the only position he'd be able to play in our system is the central striker. Even then, he wouldn't be as effective at winning the ball back high up the pitch as Jesus or Aguero.

The fickle & ignorant nature of fans/youth I would contend. Every season there's an epitaph prepared for Messi - he currently looks beaten or bereft of solutions simply because he has been tremendously isolated in terms of on/off pitch support. No coincidence he has been the most outspoken in his career over these last 18 months

Messi played 32 games in La Liga this season.

25 goals and 22 assists.

Metal stats for a 33 year old, playing in a team in decline and a player who now plays much deeper than in his prime.

Every team in the world would drop everything they could to sign him, if they got the chance.

They wouldn't even hesitate.

Same with Cristiano Ronaldo going to Juventus and Sanchez going to the Rags. Both moves haven't worked out as expected. Both were on a ridiculously high wages. A jaded Messi isn't that attractive move for the money.
