Done it all in football and will want to hit USA in a big way before retiring just as Pele, Beckham did
Beckham was 32 and Pele was 34(?) and pretty much retired when moving to the USA, quite a difference.

Beckham didn't "pretty much retire" when he went to MLS.

Pele perhaps. But Beckham played a full MLS season and had stints with Milan in the winter. I'd hardly call that retiring.
I was (I thought obviously) referring to Pele being retired. But then again I'm pretty sure you knew that and are just clutching at straws. Give it up and just admit you were wrong. ;)

The timing of this rumour is a bit strange... Just a few days after the rumour about messi wants aguero to barcelona... Then the last one is negredo saying 'messi to premier league? Yeah, why not'.
This seems like a deflection.. Should we be worried of losing aguero to barca?

-- Wed Nov 20, 2013 1:20 pm --

We've been working on this deal since the Dos Amigos came on board last year. I believe the 'first refusal' agreement was reached not long before the FA Cup final. Hence Barca's revenge.

So what do you think? Is there even a slight hope of getting him?

To have possibly the greatest player ever to have played the game to come to city at the prime of his career when one of their main objectives would have been to raise the profile of the club to among the world's very greatest, I'd say they're doing everything they can, it all comes down to whether he's interested in the move or not doesn't it?

As far as I'm aware we've talked to him and his people, we certainly haven't been knocked back (the opposite if anything), we can finance the deal, he'd be playing alongside one of his best pals and we can offer him a suitable environment and challenge.

But as I've said on many occasions there's lots can go wrong in a high-profile deal like this. Someone (but not that many) could hijack it. Bayern, PSG, Chelsea and possibly Real Madrid spring to mind. He might decide against it, we may get the brush-off from Barcelona or the deal may founder on some of the detail.

But there's definitely at least a slight hope in my opinion. Having said that I'd have put the Isco deal at something like 90% at one point and look how that turned out.
