I love the idea of signing Messi but I really cant see how the figures would work out, he would be our record signing at 33 years old and his wages would be astronomical although I am sure increased sponsorship would go towards this.

I would much rather sign Kane than Messi, now there is something I never thought I would write.

The only two players we've been strongly linked with at all (here or elsewhere) that fall outside the usual target range are Messi and Koulibaly. Khaldoon also intimated that there were 'opportunities' to make signings we wouldn't normally make, which doesn't suggest Koulibaly as there's never an opportunity to sign a Napoli player outside of bowing to De Laurentiis.

Maybe there's another surprise that'll catch us all out like Isco.

yep. agree

I don’t think he thinks he’s doing us a favour. But not sure Messi would hack it in the PL. everyone would be out to get him - including the media
Messi is from the streets and has that south American hard as fuck attitude like tevez, zabba and kun have. He'll be a racehorse in a sea of donkeys. .

No, signing Messi doesn't make us look trying to be a big club. Signing Messi would make us iconic, City's perception would immediately change. It would be like winning the Champions League but even bigger.

History would show that the greatest player of ALL TIME played for another club than Barcelona, which he loved and no one thought it was even possible. That club was Manchester City.

You don't think that unbelievable prestige and the huge following we would get, which would last for decades is worth it?

You think prestige Is “earned“ by spending yet more eye-watering amounts on a disgruntled ageing galactico who‘s probably incapable of setting Manchester on his sat nav?
