its not going to happen and he's too old now anyway. Its a nice thought but the moment has passed for me.
That said, he wont leave Barca anyway.

The backlash would be astronomical while at the same time the press would be falling over themselves to get interviews/exclusives etc - Every slimy rat would want a piece while simultaniously slagging us off under their breath.

The reaction of the other top teams and managers would be priceless!
Now you’ve said that I definitely want him

Crazy thing is,if this did happen,it would generate money for every club we played.
Imagine the amount of armchair fans who would suddenly want to go just because they are playing City.
How? No fans at the moment, and when the grounds are reopned there will be no spare tickets anyway. Merchandising is the one area but who benefits from that? Not necessarily City.

I would imagine the Premier League would love us to sign him, more TV revenue for them. The icing on the cake would be if the rags resigned tranny at the same time... Both the goat's in Manchester (well one just outside), Sky would have a field day.....

I believe we have to sort the defence out before we consider a player like Messi otherwise we will just be a Barcelona MkII.

Some will say we can do both, or they aren't linked, but I read Koulibaly is for sale but at Napoli's price so transfer budget is an issue. From a footballing point of view, addressing the defence is far more important than replacing Bernardo with Messi. I prefer Bernardo, Foden and KDB to be honest.

How can you possibly compare City to Barcelona, we have had a down season and we are still playing better football than Barca have in the last 4 years.

Signing Messi isn't going to stop us signing Koulibaly. Completely different budgets.

You prefer Bernardo, Foden and KDB to Messi?

Just think about what it could do to the youngsters. Foden has been learning from the likes of KDB and Silva, just think if he can then play a few years with the GOAT what that'll do to his game. Nice dream to have.

Love Messi and the way he plays the game, but wouldn't buying him blow a great big hole in our wage structure?

It's fairly well accepted that City have had a Messi plan for years that is outside of anything else they might do. Exactly what it entails is not entirely clear but there's little doubt that the club's income would increase if Messi arrived. And it could be that part of the commercial side of the plan would involve sponsors paying Messi directly. I'm talking about totally legit activities here.

Messi would still become our highest paid player in respect of what the club pays him directly but not even KDB is going to think he should be paid as much as Messi.

I don't think it's worth worrying about anyway as it remains exceedingly unlikely that he will move to City It's the stuff dreams are made of but if the supporters of MCFC can't dream, who can?

Yes I do because I compare their current ability and potential next season against Messi's current and future ability. KDB and Foden produced against Lyon and Real Madrid. If you buy Messi you play him. Whose shirt does he take? Foden's, Bernardo's? Messi is on a downard curve and has been for some time. Bernardo, KDB are capable of being a Ballon D'or winner next season. Foden is in that category potentially. These are players who were part of a near perfect side and could be again - if we sort the defence out.

You say signing Messi doesn't stop us buying Koulibaly or other essential defensive buys but every recent transfer window we've lost targets because of budgetary reasons.
