If Sterling can now get high 20s each season, I'm sure as fuck Messi can get mid-30s.

Very few of Sterling's goals come from his direct pace running on goal, they are all snaffled chances inside the penalty box, courtesy of our creation and his clever movement over two or three yards.

Messi in the same situations would certainly not need three chances to take one.

Especially so, when his ball retention is such, he can create space for himself as and when he sees fit.

Can't wait to see him, even if do have to let my season ticket go.
Why would you have to let your season ticket go?

Absolutely brilliant! Classic Sad Cafe. The page down. Probably the whole thread. If by a miracle Messi was being linked with a move to United, everyone single one of them would love it. As well as doing something sexual in the toilet, or having a wet Messi dream. But seeing as Messi is being linked to City......

For me, it is the X factor his signing would bring to the huge games like candlepool, chelski and spuds, we haven't really had a huge injection into our forwards/midfield, Torres aside, for a number of years now. It will give them one hell of a worry to concentrate on, and as been said, probably open up space and chances for everyone else.

It is the fact he knows he has (and still can) beat any team home or away. He is a step above most players, either skillfully, intuitively or mentally. To move from your home country at such a young age and be resilient enough to stay and not just be successful but at times peerless, its a no brainer for me. Is he getting older, arent we all, but give us 18 months of games, influence in training and cameos, what that will give the club, the group and fanbase will be remembered forever. But, of course, not as good as Carlton Pogba.

First Neymar and now this, Messi is PSG bound.

According to RMC, it is not what he said. At least, not implying what is written in this tweet.

He reportedly said : "You know, we respect every other club, the same way we need to be respected. For me, Messi is a Barcelona player. We respect Barcelona. We cannot talk about this today."

He is basically saying nothing.

There's got to be some irony in the fact that generally the dirty, evil, nouveau riche Chelsea, PSG, and City are rather tight lipped and courteous about things like this, but other "established" clubs are rather liberal about talking about players at clubs other than their own.

Doesnt have to does everything under the table with FIFA, UEFA nothing will change getting the message out to Messi

If it was a choice of Messi or Haaland then the young kid wins hands down on the pitch off it Messi piss balls anyone

Like I said the other day come January we should know, I cant see Messi holding out till July to sign a new Barca contract but can see him sign a pre contract with City or PSG
Guess it depends on how much City wsnt him, if he has a choice & we are in for him only 1 winner imo & its not France

The City project dwarfs anything PSG can offer

With Naymar & Mbappa then someone has to fall, not a chance another £100m in wages can go on there wage bill without moving out possibly Mbappa

PSG will then be able to throw stupid wages at him something City will only match by offering him shares

I don't think the wages will be the make or break as both City & PSG can make him happy

It will be the manager, players, club & legacy for the next 2-4 years imo & thats Pep, Aguero, Kev, City training facility's, Tixi & Sorriano, shares in CFG & NYC

Could also be given a coaching role or manager in America?

So much City can offer the Messi camp but does he have the appetite & does he fancy England??

Answer on a post card folks

I'm sure Messi will be licking his chops at the opportunity to coach in America after his playing career.

I think it is naive to think PSG can't offer him any more than we can, financially. They can offer the same wages or more. We can persumably offer shares in the cfg group (something assumed based on claims in a few papers, but never yet done), or playing/coaching in the states. They can offer image rights in Qatar and a role in the tourist industry to get paid for simply existing. (something already tested).

If he does decide to leave Barcelona, and it is a big bloody if, and if, again big if he goes with a football based decision where to move next, then i do think we offer a lot more than PSG or anyone else. All depends on what he wants. Always has.

On top of handsome wages (given his fee would be low in January or not at all in Summer), we can offer Pep and Aguero too. As well as a hierarchy he can trust in Txiki and Sorriano. The project he cited as the reason to want to leave Barca is also here at City including, as you say, longevity in terms of an actual footballing plan.

PSG can offer money (which he’s not short of), rights and Neymar.

They can match or even offer money financially to Messi than we can but everywhere else we have the upper hand. Hopefully he isn’t motivated by money and based on the Summer, I don’t think he is. I think he just wants to compete while he still has time left.

Maybe. Time will tell. It is all in his hands, always has been. We will see what he really wants. I doubt much would surprise me though
