There will have been Liverpool captains with less footballing ability than Henderson. People (quite frequently Liverpool fans themselves) often forget how ordinary Liverpool were as a club for much of their...errrr...history. Certainly they were utterly shite for most of the 1950's.

It's amazing how 125 years of history are exemplified by cherry picking the best 20 of them (although admittedly they were amazing when at their best).
Conversely we are often epitomised by our worst 20!

As you say, Henderson cannot possibly be their least able captain.

No. it was a joke really.A bit of banter.
no one can name a captain who is a worse player than henderson.
so therefore, the joke is...henderson is the worst liverpool captain in living memory.

I see klopp has told the sun he refuses to talk with them during press conferences, I hope it's that Scouse prick Phil Thomas... It's so hard to dislike klopp, hate the fact he's at such a detestable club!!

fancy them to start well and be right up there and then fade. Spurs likewise. Woudnt mind them 2 getting top 4 if it keeps the rags out.

I'd have been amazed if they didn't start well, Klopp pressing style should have them firing like mad dogs early on. However, I'm not inspired by their transfer activity and a lot will depend on whether that lack of edge means teams find a way to nullify them and whether they can keep it up all season (didn't manage to under Rodgers), they could overachieve and do a Leicester (have to accept anyone can win the league now) but they just look decent at best. I really expected more oomph from their signings, there's no dynamism in the heart of the pitch from what they've bought, no strength at the back and is Karius really streets ahead of Mignolet? I don't think so. Pinning a lot on Firmino and Origi as well with Sturridge's mard-arse record.

No worries, everything is following the usual path.

I can't help but feel that with no European football to worry about that they could actually have a very good season. Klopp's an excellent motivator and he's not an idiot, remember they (deservedly) beat Leicester last season when almost nobody else seemed to know how to back in December, ending a 9 game unbeaten streak too.

Sure, Klopp could burn everyone out but with no Europe I don't see why top 4 is beyond them.

They do well under Klopp when they high press and win balls in the opposition half. However dealing with teams that let them have the ball, sit deep and have an organized defence they have problems with. There will be teams trying to play for draws against them and they may find it hard to break them down.

Have to admit they did look awesome against Barca - a Barca with Messi and Suarez.

I'm afraid to say, I think this might be a big year for them, and let's face it, after Leicester's magnificent triumph last season, no team has an excuse anymore.

Klopp's success seems to be inversely proportional to the importance of the game. Awesome friendlies, just don't mention the finals.

Awesome?

Fair enough a 4-0 scoreline against Barca is something to crow about, friendly or not but a 4-0 defeat today against Mainz says they are not all that, again!
