If you qualify it with 'given the amount we've spent, we ought to be beating Sunderland' - then fair enough, there's logical rationale to it, but without qualifying it, it comes across as a 'we should be beating them because that's the natural order of things' - and that's arrogance.
To be fair many City fans come out with this crap too - I've heard it many times, and I've probably done it myself if I'm honest - made the 'assumption' that City should beat Oldham - just because.

Wolves were once a great team, now they aren't. Things change. Liverpool were once a poor then, then a great team, then just a good team.

30 years from now, we might be bankrupt, Liverpool might be a conference side, and Kettering are European Champions. There's no divine right to a damn thing.

I'd rather phrase it as 'we ought to be beating Sunderland because we have better players than them'. Your apparent insistence that everything has to be qualified by the money word is frankly boring, as you or somebody has already pointed out, money doesn't necessarily guarantee success - if it did the rags would win it every year.

And I don't think I have seen anyone on here say we have a divine right to win the PL or CL or anything for that matter.

'Because of the better players we have' is effectively saying the same thing - but they didn't come for free. Why shy away from the fact that we've paid handsomely for them. The entire reason we are in the position we're in is because of money. Let's not pretend otherwise.

I haven't suggested anybody here as ever said we have a divine right to win the PL or CL, but I have said (and will stand by it) that plenty of City fans, myself included, have said 'we should be beating so and so' (even before we had the money) - simply because there's an assumption that we're bigger, or have more history, and therefore we should beat 'lesser' teams like Oldham etc. We as City fans aren't immune to arrogance. We can knock Liverpool fans for looking down their noses at us, but we dish it out to others too.

I think they are also now facing what we face - stubborn teams set up to defend in numbers which stifles their style of play (like it does ours). They are at their best when they play teams willing to come out and attack (like us), which plays into their hands. In many ways, they have similar issues on the pitch as us - great going forwards, not so good in defence, and struggle when teams park the bus.
 
Mrs (typical annoying Liverpool fan) genuinely thought they'd walk it in October. She doesn't even want to watch Sky sports one now (They're talking about Leicester) because she's hurting so much. Nob!

Liverpool likewise, have used their wealth to dominate other clubs. Money might not guarantee success, but it can certainly improve your chances.
It's a shame that that is the case in sport, but it is. We've benefitted from it, and I don't think we should try to deny it. I just get frustrated when other clubs can't see how they have benefitted from it too.

You're absolutely right and i wasn't having a go at your post. Just get annoyed with oppo fans coming on here,
spouting about money. Like they haven't spent any.
