Liverpool (A) PL - Post Game

It has come to the end of its cycle but why wasn't we better prepared? Why have we allowed quality players to leave, and bring in not ready replacements? Whilst a cycle can run its course why is it ok to go from champions to scrambling for a top 4 position? We are shit, our form has been horrible and even as we was scraping by in results, Wolves, Brentford, Southampton, Fulham etc. We pride ourselves on being the best run club which I think we are, if that's the case why are we happy losing a year? I never get this process of if a team isn't at it, they need a whole year off? We are consistently crap at the moment and deservedly losing. The bigger picture is we will come good, we will be back with a bang next year and hopefully recruit a lot better. That doesn't help with the here and now or do we have to just ignore it and so oh well, see you all next year. What is the purpose of this board if we cannot discuss City and share different opinions,
At the moment we look we are run by British Leyland . Our Audis have morphed into Austin Alegro's.

I really struggle to understand why we seem to have absolutely dropped off a cliff. As good as Rodri is, there's no way he carried this team. And if we are so reliant on a single player, we don't have a team.

Foden, Bernardo, Gundogan, Walker have been immense for us and we know they are magnificent players. Haaland is a strange one but I bet VVD barely knew he was playing. These 5 should be leading the team and none of them could get into the game or lead by example. Not a single one.

For every single one to be poor, it suggests something else is going on. I honestly don't know what it is and I hope it's just a blip, but we look absolutely shot. I don't believe it's all fitness, games played etc as no other team looks as fucked as we do. I think something has happened behind the scenes and I guess if this run continues we will find out.

I genuinely think any team with any pace in midfield and up front will rip us a new one. Pretty much any team in this league have pacy forwards and unless the defence is sorted, this season could be a disaster. It's the endless stupid mistakes from players who are better than that which bugs me.

How do we end up going to Anfield with a midfield with Gundogan, Lewis and Nunes in it? That's a Southampton level midfield at the minute. We need to clear some players out who aren't good enough (Nunes, Grealish) and thank the ones who are legends (KdB, Walker, Gundgan) and sign some quality. Proper quality, not clowns from Wolves and Palace etc. Get the chequebook out and bring in some TOP players.

Fair play to the scousers, they went for it and will feel 2-0 wasn't a fair reflection of the game which is true. They deserved a 5-0 win really. But why can we barely get anything there? I think treats them and united like they are different class.

I hope Pep can turn this around and I'm sure he will. You don't need to be a manger to realise the players in the tactical formation just isn't working and something needs to change. Make us hard to beat for a start and if we're not scoring then drop Haaland and play without a striker. If he doesn't score, he's barely worth playing. I'm amazed we have NO ONE in the youth team who can step up into midfield. FFS Liverpool and United deem to do it why can't we!!

I've had a load of shit off scousers at work all day today and just want Pep to get a grip now. I don't mind writing the season off if it means we rebuild for next year. I just don't want to see overly cautious passing in our slow midfield then getting picked off by the likes of fuckin Jordan Ayew etc. And if Nunes continues to be MOTM we are properly in the shit.

I'm sure we will get out of this rut but it does feel like something is seriously off. We're only 4 points above united who've had a dreadful season and their GD is better than ours!!

Let's get Forest absolutely hammered and get the show back on the road.

It isn't a case of ignoring it, we have to take our medicine and just crack on. Injuries have hit us hard, we've been kind of lucky over the years with them but this season it has bit us on the bum and some.
I'm not saying we should have a year off but this season everything has come on top at the same time and we're in this whirlpool and can't escape. Every top team has had some kind of drop off after reaching the top of the pile, ours has took four years to happen but it's happening. I can take a defeat with ease nowadays but in the early days of our success it knocked me sideways and hurt more because we wasn't the finished article and yes I maybe got slightly entitled as a fan and thought we should be brushing teams aside. Gladly I grown out of it. This run we're on yes it's confusing and it stings but when I look at the bigger picture I think to myself no biggie, football goes in cycles, it's happened to the red mardarse clubs and now it's starting to happen again with us. We just got on through the season, see what the end brings and blitz it next year.
I certainly don't think we've been lucky over the years with injuries. We possibly lost nearly 2 seasons of prime Sergio and Vinny, KDB, Stones etc have all missed lengthy periods of the season. The difference then was that players stepped up (Gundo, Bernardo & Phil being prime examples) and through injuries, poor recruitment and losing players, we no longer have that luxury

Have you tried discussing this on rag cafe or rawk?

It is, but if you don't agree with the bluemoon clique and dare critisise the club in any way shape or form, then the insults are thrown out. Mods won't do anything, they are all in it together. As I say, it was great on here until they allowed bell ends to run riot

Many of them will be undercover Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Tottenham et al fans. Some of them may well have infiltrated here. They all do devoutly wish that Pep be sacked. It would be like an early Christmas present for them all. Not going to happen.
In fora such as this one, there is always some degree of infiltration. Infestation, however, is another matter entirely, as the host will become quite ill when the parasites increase in numbers to achieve critical mass.

I really struggle to understand why we seem to have absolutely dropped off a cliff. As good as Rodri is, there's no way he carried this team. And if we are so reliant on a single player, we don't have a team.

Rodri has been more important than many realise, he elevates the whole team, linking defence and attack, and destroying opposition's attacks.

His injury means other players have to work harder, which leads to injuries, which means the fit players are overplayed (Akanji, Gvardiol, Bernardo, Haaland), which leads to them losing form...

Of course, it's not only about losing Rodri. A sudden dip in form is perfectly natural after 4 great seasons. There's a reason why no other team in English history has won 4 in a row, and no other team in Europe has ever gone 26 games unbeaten. Those immense efforts have taken their toll. It's inevitable.

Why haven't we prepared for this moment a bit better? Because nobody knows when it will come, and because we owe respect to the players who have achieved the success. We can't tell them, say, Kevin or Bernardo, thanks but now please go. Also, some expected a crisis last season, and had we tried to replace players then, we might have failed to win 4 in a row.
