Liverpool (A) PL - Post Game

I knew it was going to be a hard watch yesterday.

And as soon as I saw Gundogan pondering with the ball and put on his arse, then Rico shit out of a 50/50 over on the touchline, that confirmed it was going to be a long afternoon!!!

Forest isn't a gimme either on Wednesday either. Season has turned into a car crash.
Was always going to happen at some point in the last couple of years.
The team are walking wounded at the minute and that is purely down to the fact they've give it everything in the last 4 years.
Yes you could say the season has imploded but just think that this team has run it's cycle and this is a natural drop off.
If we can limp it to January and get a couple of signings in it'll revitalise us until the big rebuild next summer.

I know mate but looking at the others fighting for it 3 and 4 I’d going to be hard, Liverpool Arsenal top 2 then you’ve got Villa, scum, Chelsea is possibly Brighton maybe even Forest, now on paper we should have enough but unless we strengthen in January (which I don’t think we will) then it’s going to be bloody hard.
Can't disagree with that but that will be some fall from grace. If the demands of the previous seasons are the reason for our slump, as some posters insist, then I find it unbelievable the club didn't have an indication in the summer at least. Also if that is the case, and if we were aware, why it wasn't addressed to some extent.

There's 4 types of forum fan
1. The fan who takes out their frustration on the players and management of the club. Seems logical as they are in control of what happens on the pitch
2. The fan who takes out their frustrations on other fans for losing faith and not being fan enough. The same type as 1, but more self-righteous
3. The fan who takes the win or loss with dignity and reason, and who doesn't let his support ruin stuff outside of football
4. The fan who veers through all of the above reactions depending on how well we play and how much it means to get a result.

You are a 2. Most are a 4.

Gatekeeping fans and those that don't understand how a forum works are the best.

Kyle Walker and Gundogan are finished. They shouldn’t play another minute for City. Rico Lewis will never be good enough for City, the fact he keeps getting picked is ridiculous. Until Pep sees this and takes action we are just gonna keep seeing the same results.
Throw in another 2 or 3 as well who's time with us is near the end.

We don't. Phillips was the biggest disappointment. The lad looked half decent for Leeds and England and while he would never have been another Rodri he should have been able to do a job in the holding role in midfield. He came here and looked like he had two left feet and had never played competitive football in his life.
Nunes was a panic buy and just isn't good enough for the top level in spite of a few half decent games on the wing.
Gundogan is another surprise. He looked half decent still at Barcelona and was a no brainer on a free, but his legs have now totally gone.
Savinho and Doku the jury is out. Both flatter to deceive and if they want to stay here they have to create more and chip in with at least 10-15 goals a season.

Grealish and in particular KDB just aren't fit enough to play regularly atm.

We rarely win at Anfield, 3 times in the last 68 years tells you that. It's just a bogey ground for us and we're not alone in that. We might have all hoped we could scrape a draw maybe but deep down we knew we'd get beat.

Poor recruitment and underperforming of the players we have recruited now means we have a huge rebuilding job on our hands. I'd say a left and right back and a proper solid center half. We need a holding and also a creative midfield player and another striker. That's six players, half a team. We also need to look at the injury records of these players.

We could see the end of the road for Walker, Gundogan, Ederson, KDB and possibly Stones at the end of the season. Great player but he's just never fit. If we got offered half decent fees for Nunes and Grealish I feel they might be moved on too. The first five have been magnificent for us over the glory years and Grealish during the treble season but they all look totally burnt out and that's no surprise given the levels they've performed at and the effort they've put in.

Whether we ever reach those dizzy heights again time will tell but boy what a last few years it has been.
My cousin is a leeds fan. He rang me laughing his head off when we signed him. He said the leeds fans love him but hes ‘ok’. He couldnt see him for one second making it with us but thanks for the £45m all the same

The recruitment has been woeful. Not only in average buys (you listed them), but letting a player or two go that we shouldnt have, let players get old as a group and keeping players who are made of glass. Its just not been good enough.

Lets be fair the writing was on the wall last season. Nouse got us across the line. But its come home to roost in a bigger way we couldve imagined

The treble was the peak as a blue. Itll never be bettered feeling wise. But thats fine. I experienced it

I was hoping our drop off would be more Chelsea, than er......1990s City.
We don't do things by half.

You can't have watched city much in that time if you genuinely think that performance was the worst ever since 1976?, Borough away, Lincoln in the cup, Mansfield in the windshield Cup to name a few without even thinking about it.
I never said it was the worst ever, just the worst at Anfield since we lost twice in a week under Ball, 0-4 and 0-6.

I was at Lincoln away on both occasions btw, and Mansfield in the Auto Windscreens thingy … but not at Boro’ although that had mitigating circumstances.
