Liverpool (A) PL - Post Game

I don't know who is available and who's not and who would fancy us with the 115 charges hanging over us but I wouldn't bet against it being beyond the realms of possibility that Pep could walk away.
I feel he is in unknown territory and we have to face the possibility that for the good of his own well-being he could go of his own accord.

Obviously just my thoughts and I could be miles off, but I can't help thinking this way.
No way he walks away from the first REAL negative challenge in his career.

His new deal is to rebuild this old, tired squad and reinvent HIS game with yet another revolution.

Even Txiki acknowledges the last year in the transfer market wasn’t great, but we are talking about the best team EVER in England all hitting the physical wall at the same time, with both age and injuries contributing together.

We are in a rather unique moment and the entire English footballing world wants to knock us off our perch, so the media and other fan pile on is to be expected. What is bad, and I’m at fault here, too, is that our own fans are seeing the writing on the wall and some players are finding nowhere to hide.

Coupled with Pep using “yesterday” tactics to address “today” problems, and you have a perfect storm that has produced the worst run on forever for Pep and for decades for the team.

This, too, will pass, but there are no quick fixes in football, especially when the problems are entrenched and need a long term fix.

I fully expect we will soldier through this season looking bang average for long periods, but I also fully expect City 25/26 to look quite different from the OAP XI we have today.
It's darkest before the dawn.

An exciting new team will appear in the next 12 months, plenty to look forward to.

If anyone is pissed off, go and watch the EDS game from Saturday against Newcastle, a 7 -1 victory and some outrageous talents on show.

I think we may struggle for top 4, this means Peps last season will not be in the Champions League, which would give us a good run at winning the league again, that would give him 7 in 10 years! Would he want to extend then for a run at the CL again or pass the baton on? I was really pissed off last night, I’m exhausted with the new puppy doing night shifts, so City’s bad run has come at a time I could do with a lift, I’ll be there Wednesday and I think fuck it, I’m just going to e joy the season now, the league is gone (I said we wouldn’t win at start of season anyway) the CL I would say is out of reach unless by some miracle and easy draws we win it, so it’s the FA cup for me another trip to the Ethiad South and then possibly win the World Cup in July! Looking forward to the rebuild and who we bring in and playing in the EFL ;)

He would be known as a bottler if he did that, leaving us in the shit, I highly doubt that will happen.

I know people will laugh at this suggestion but as I said before we signed Haaland... an option should be to play him on a wing (like where Nunes is) so he has space to run into the box. Imo we are far too predictable with him in a no9. We've swapped the no9 problem for a only no9 problem with a couple of great seasons in between.

If Haaland was wide then we could have a pick of runner options through the center of Nunes, Kovacic, Foden, Doku, Savinho, Grealish, Bernardo.

If I was Pep I'd start something like this...(anyone could take turns up front as all they are doing is keeping 2 CBs distracted)

.....................Ederson................
.........Akanji... Dias ......Ake......
...........Kovacic ....Gvardio........
KDB ...Nunes .. Doku... Haaland
..................... Foden ................

All KDB would be asked to do is track back as needed and otherwise whip in those low crosses to a load of runners.

Laugh if you will but it can't be worse than what we got surely.

Yeah…no.

I felt for Doku. Haaland’s movement was non existent.
Haaland appears to be frustrated, and fast losing interest ..... after starting the season well, his general movement and effort appear to be now waning a bit, yes .. but the service to him from other players hasn't been great ..... in truth, ever since Doku arrived at City his final ball has rarely been good enough, despite the admirable amount of effort that he puts in on the pitch ..... and Foden seems to be just a pale shadow of the player he has been in recent seasons.

I'm hard pressed to think of the last time that any City player really 'stood out' to me on the pitch ..... since the league Cup defeat at Spurs we have really struggled, the difference being that, after weeks of seemingly stagnating, we now appear to be noticeably moving the wrong way down the league table.

Pep signed a TWO YEAR extension.
