Liverpool (A) PL - Post Game

went as per predicted.....just surprised the scousers didnt score more in the first half...

Static traffic cone midfield who were more NONE existent than the last 5 games letting liverpools attack at will and our back four being horribly exposed. Gundo and Lewis were none existent in that first half in either midfield, attack wise or defense

To reitrate, Gundo is finished and Lewis is not a midfielder. KDB still doesnt look interested and cant keep possession and Nunes isnt good enough and doesnt have the heart.

Doku about the only one to come out with any credit in an attacking sense though its hard to criticise Haaland as he has got zero support.

Bernardo at least works his socks off as per usual

The sooner we see the back of Gundo and Lewis in midfield we may start to see better performances

Apart from the fuck up for the penalty, Dias had a solid game, as did Ake and Ortega. Akanji and Walker were poor and their passing diabolical. Doku did ok when he came on. The rest did nothing, Lewis puts in the yards but takes about ten touches before passing.
Second half was a bit better but even though they had two defenders in from injuries, Gomez and AA, on the odd occasion they fucked up, we were nowhere near good enough to capitalise.

There was no way we could keep going full tilt season after season and maybe this is just part of that cycle. Be glad when we get back to winning ways though.

They’re just better than us now, can’t believe after all the rivalry we’re going to be the team that breaks first. Even though we won more it hurts guys.
Breaks first? They’ve finished above us once in the last 15 years.

In Pep’s time, Liverpool have broken a number of times: we have finished 3rd 1st 1st 2nd 1st 1st 1st 1st, with 18 trophies. In that time, Liverpool have finished 4th 4th 2nd 1st 3rd 2nd 5th 3rd with 8 trophies.

They’re just better than us for now.

Like they were in 2019-20. But let’s revisit that comment in two more years and see if it still holds true.

With a good few transfer windows, with Pep still here, everyone better watch out. But we do need to get the transfers right.

Just need a bit of luck, something we aren’t getting at the moment.
When we drew Real Madrid last season they were abject - by the time the match came round they had rallied. One good signing in January, recovery from injuries and the return of our confidence and we could genuinely challenge for champions league….the league has almost certainly gone but Pep is still here and that can only be a huge positive.

Even as champions, centurions, fourmidables etc we've never done particularly well at Clanfield, is it like 2 wins in 25 years, so I wasn't too surprised with the result.personally expectation was already quite low.

We have issues, plenty of them, and I have no idea what we can do about them all. We've just gotta trust pep and rhe lads to turn things around. We all knew this time would come eventually, we've surpassed all my expectations so Pep gets an almost free pass from me this season. We have 2 more seasons of the greatest ever coach, and the prospect of plenty of new potentially great signings to come over the next few seasons.
And it's only December, I'm not complete writing this season off yet! Let the pool celebrate their title in December!
It's a testing time for sure, a time we have haven't felt for bloody ages! Yes it hurts but now is the time for us all to man up (I include the players in that) and try and get behind the lads.
Maybe a season of not winning something would be actually beneficial for us all in the long run?? Yes I'm clutching but come on, we're still living the dream aren't we!!??

Nunes has been one of our best players this season. Quicker than all of Bernardo, Gundogan and Rico combined. Only midfielder left with some pace, energy and ability to cover some ground
Thought he was one of our worse players today.
