Liverpool (A) PL - Post Game

I had assumed that KDB was being held back to ensure his fitness for this game, for him to only get 15 minutes when we are 2 down is a real concern. I think we are safe to say this will be hos last season with us.
 
A little bit of perspective amongst all this doom is needed.
We’ve been super privileged to witness arguably the greatest run by a team in the premier league era. It is simply not realistic to expect this to continue indefinitely. It never does.
If we go through a season needing to rebuild so be it. I am still convinced Pep is the best man to do this and will deliver the goods, just like he’s always done.
Whatever happens the club is in rude health and has a growing following. I am confident we will prevail in court and on the pitch (eventually) and to all those pisding and moaning about our current form guys…please give your heads a fucking wobble and just remember where we were before the takeover.
I for one still in dreamland and grateful to have witnessed what I have in the last decade or so.
Onwards and upwards.

There was no point defending a losing scoreline though so I think the gamble would be worth it.
 
I just don't get people mentioning what we won in the recent past as some sort of excuse for this catastrophic slump in form we are experiencing right now.
I am not sure the owners are thinking 'yes we won all that stuff in the past 8 years, so let's do a few season fighting for Europa conference league, that will do.
There are five teams outscoring us this season and that is with allegedly the best striker in the world literally playing every single game.
The weirdest thing is I am at Etihad on Wednesday and already buzzing to see the game. I am taking my wife for a pre-Xmas tour of the north for three days and my holiday might be ruined. :( Stay humble, heh!

Pep knew what to expect from the dippers, they did play to expectation, yet we were not able to limit them creating chances after chances. while scoring fuck all again is unfortunately a theme now. if Haaland doesnt score nobody else is stepping up.

while Saka and Salah improved their G+A again in this round, our wingers happy to deliver 0 assists and 0 goals once again. probably next game too.

back to 5th place, which was also expected, 4 losses in a row and other caught up with us. unfortunately mighty rags now only 4 points behind and if our tactics and performance does not improve I fear the worst in the derby game. Amorim outclassed us with Sporting few weeks back, last thing we need is do it with the rags too.

something rotten in the dressing room, either they not trusting Pep anymore and dont want to play this type of game, or there is some other issue we dont know yet. or just a big collective burnout after the high tempo trophy winning years. not one player can be so far delighted with their season, not one. maybe Haaland, but when goals start to dry up for him he really doesnt add to the team much. but the other 20+ players are a bigger culprit as most of them dont even do the basics right.

Pep renewal was expected to give us not just a big positive spin but also a serious injection into the result. yet we are doing awful since Pep renewed.

The old cliche is you either change the manager or the players

Giving Pep an extension, it looks like we have chosen the latter , some players might be pissed off with that

Correct decision imho

Obviously we have a chance of top 4, but we’re kidding ourselves that we’re not in a very bad place and top 4 doesn’t look a tough task right now. There are seven or eight teams better than us right now, we’re the worst City side we’ve seen for 10 years plus

This!! Some folk think we can win the PL every year now!! Undoubtedly the schedule we’ve been through over the last three years is taking its toll. BUT we’ll be back - we showed signs in this game. A new face in January will help. Pep was irreplaceable a few weeks ago - he still is
 
Battered first 30 mins or so, but looked so much better second half. Sloppy still at times but the fight, passion and organisation was clearer.

With Kovacic back in the side we will be miles better again, but Dias made a huge difference.

Keep the faith blues, it's not a huge challenge for us to be top 4 and find enough to mount a challenge in the other competitions.

Positive signs.

Agree and I don’t think we would have. Kev would have still come on at the same stage had we been 1-0 down in the hope of getting something out of it. Unfortunately we gave the penalty away.

I’d like to see how Liverpool would cope without salah and Van dyke likewise with Arsenal losing Saka and saliba or odegard.Its just a blip for us atm lets regroup and chill. We can’t win it every year ffs.

Your probably one win away from changing it around again ............. and them 7 or 8 teams will eventually hit a bad patch at some point

I pretty much posted the exact thing!
I'm more worried about when pep goes....we may end up like our neighbours and winning next to nowt and changing managers every 2 or 3 years! Thatll test a few on here!
