Liverpool (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The match doesn't exist in a bubble, it affects the rest of the league.
Slabozhoweveryouspellit doesn't get suspended and would play against Sunderland, which they wouldn't be happy about just cos ref decided to ref the game for drama and vibes rather than the rules.

We would also have a better goal difference that could matter at the end too.
Misses the point that VAR is not supposed to re—ref. If they keep doing that, we are fucked. They claim they are not doing that, but they are. You are suggesting that the ref effectively has no discretion.

If that 3rd goal yesterday would have been allowed to stand, nobody would have batted an eyelid.

The laws (of football) are an ass in this instance, any other game and a penalty goal would have been awarded. Just get the laws changed for the benefit of all.
Yes. In the eggchasers Eng game, Eng player crossed for a try but was taken out of play by a foul and failed to ground the ball. Result? PENALTY TRY.

Am I the only one who after the “3rd” went in and then they said there’s a VAR review, thought it was for the incident in the City box? There was no natural break between the two. I was convinced they were going to review that the second if happened and didn’t celebrate the “3rd” thinking “this is getting pulled right back to that fucking incident.”

No. I'm with you 100%. Thought it was just me!!

I also thought the referee was going over to the VAR monitor to award Liverpool a penalty in the buildup to our 3rd. Going from 1:3 to 2:2 would have been tough to take. Was a huge relief to see it was just ruling out our goal.
Ha ha ha thought it was just me thought this! Nearly killed me

Did anybody get that total feeling of dread about 45 seconds after the 3rd goal that wasn't? The dickhead commentator starts going "Ooh wait there! Major controversy" etc etc. For a few seconds a genuinely thought it was that penalty claim just before the breakaway. I absolutely shit my kecks. Never been so happy to see the VAR for a goal we'd scored. Twoz an horrible 10 or 15 seconds I don't mind telling ya.
Ha ha ha me completely

That's the bit that has been bugging me. I appreciate that the rules have been followed, but I also don't understand the VAR protocol here. I don't understand how the ref/lino has missed the two interactions? It's as clear as day in real time, pre-VAR the ref would 99% of the time just agreed that it came out in the wash.

The Salad/Guehi red card is gaining momentum as the turning point of the game , what about Konate with two hands on Mamrmoush in the penalty area and pushing him to the ground in the first half , because Chuckle Brother didnt think it was a penalty VAR didnt get involved. Your not telling me VAR are not influenced by the Sky commentary , because that was anailed on penalty , but not a mention on any programme or website , it never happened.
Lol must be nice to think we are always the victims and everyone is out to get us. Guess that helps some people avoid thinking logically.

Same. I don't think they should be chatting shit about what they're half hearing on VAR tbqh. I didn't celebrate the third because I thought they were overruling it for a penalty the other end. Proper mess.

He denied Haaland the opportunity to score a goal into an empty net, as they both caught up to Cherki’s shot. Cherki isn’t scoring that goal without the fouls.

Haaland is scoring, or Szoboszlai is clearing.
I think that S's shirt pull on Haaland affected him more than the second foul affected Slob.
Maybe the decision by var was valid, but it felt wrong.

There really are people on here who really do think VAR are listening to Neville or Carragher and basing their decisions on what they say.
Well the VAR room gets the feed from the broadcasters. There are not two sets of broadcasters. We have never seen what happens in the VAR room and no one has ever said if they listen to the audio as well. Personally I would not be surprised if they could hear Neville and Co.

But come on, what if that wasn't City playing Liverpool? What if the goal was given, but no red card and next week Szoboszlai scored the winner against us?

Are you telling me that you wouldn't then be yelling that 'he shouldn't even have been playing!' ? If not you, we both know that plenty would be.
Penalty goal and Slobodob red card for unsporting conduct, that would suffice.
