Cherkis free kick at the end.... Knowing there was only 15 seconds left, did he intentionally just hoof it in to the crowd so we could reset and avoid risk of a counter if it came off their wall or Alison saved it?
Surprised we didnt play it short but then theres a risk of turn over?
Why not turn and kick it straight back to The Don? But then again, who gives a fuck!?!

We are not there yet but the potential is clear. Bernado reckons we are capable of so much more.
It is hard to quantify what those last 15 minutes will mean to the players, but with the opportunity to go on a run presenting itself, as the squad strengthens and more players get match fit, those looking for omens will have found that performance and result at Anfield, when we really, really needed it, as ominous as possible!

And, on the subject of our Captain, I dare ANYONE to say he doesn’t deserve another contract. He was superlative and rightfully won MOTM, even though I gave it to Gigio in the BM poll, for the best game saver I’ve seen in a very long time!

I'm certain it was intentional - seems like he was directed to and it was the most risk free option

Yes - I see that save as equivalent to Ortega-v-Son, after which we went on to win the league. Could it go on to have the same effect? It was a magnificent save - "world" class.

We have the chance to get on a roll again with the forthcoming fixtures, and the real Arsenal blip - with the big game pressure about to hit them - could be just around the corner.

I did not think City would win at Anfield. We started well but I have seen us start well there before and be the better team for 45 minutes and then fall to a lucky goal, an outrageous decision by the referee (even backed up by VAR) or a mistake by one of us. Yesterday it was the second half that convinced me that we have a team of title winning quality. Maybe not this season but… Liverpool increased the tempo and played much better but we never looked like cracking; Guehi and Khusanov were superb (as was Ruben), the backs competed well and broke forward. Midfield worked hard defensively and always showed that they and our front three carried a threat.

But it seemed that we were undone by a goal of rare quality this year. Bloody typical! But not a bit of it! The sleeves rolled up a bit further and just as Neville said our big players had to “stand up” the very players he had named combined to crest a defiant equaliser. And from then on the momentum was with City and we all know the ending.

Yesterday was the day this young City team grew up in doing something few City teams have done and I, like thousands more, have still not calmed down yet. I had not thought City capable of such a performance but now I know.

They are but did you hear what the sky presenter said at the end?
"We don't think it was a penalty, do you?"

VAR obviously looked at it and said nah but I actually thought for a second they was checking that incident and not the nonsense for the 3rd goal.
I was lucky enough to be there and I didn't have a clue what they were looking at and was still none the wiser when the ref spoke as you couldn't tell a word he was saying

He blasted it knowing the referee was going to blow for full time as he did.

I see all this ‘law’s of the game ‘ shite , but if they were all applied, should Haaland not have got a yellow card for the foul and also been sent off? For a second yellow…

It's great to win at the Bernabeu and Anfield in the same season. And it's even better to do it after being a goal down.

Two comebacks at two difficult grounds will help the team grow.

We will have other difficult moments, but that late comeback at Anfield is likely to help us overcome them.

Same. I don't think they should be chatting shit about what they're half hearing on VAR tbqh. I didn't celebrate the third because I thought they were overruling it for a penalty the other end. Proper mess.
VAR in a fucking nutshell - not being able to go fucking mental when you score. The one thing every fan lives for - except the few wankers who told us this was all “progress” Kiss My Ricker

I was wondering, does the referee have to tell the players how long is left if they ask?

Wondering whether the referee said it was game over once the ball came back into play etc

Not sure id ever trust them, but tbf we needed to get the ball back up into the air ASAP and id always back us to win a header from a goal kick

I agree with you on this by the way. As you rightly say, VAR is fine in principle but the implementation (in the PL specifically) is really poor.
It absolutely isn’t fine in principle- it’s a fucking abomination that has taken away the absolute joy of going ballistic when you score. The game got along perfectly for 150 years without it. Some decisions you get some you don’t. Go and watch rugby if you want to have everything decided by a video .,

Because it’s City. As we all know, despite all the success and making all our wildest dreams come true for the last decade or so, we have had a penchant for idiotic cock-ups since the dawn of time. You could virtually guarantee it would be hit short, and Ekitike or Salah would run on to it and score.

Booting it as far as possible behind their goal and as far as possible from ours was the correct option, assuming they knew the ref would blow up at the next restart.

99% sure that's what happened, yeah.
