Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

Are you assuming so because you have actual friends/mates, and you assume people who watch those “watch-alongs” don’t have any? Because that’s what I assume.
I reckon a few of them just don't have sky subscriptions and are too challenged to figure streaming out.

And Grealish.
No thanks.
We didn't need to win today to win the league.

But by winning, we have probably knocked them out of the top 4. Chelsea look twice the side under Tuchel than they were under Fat Frank. 1 point back right now.

Everton are 3 points back with 2 games in hand. Villa are 5 points back with 2 games in hand. Spurs 4 back with a game in hand. West Ham are 1 point back.

If it was just one challenger, they could probably fend them off, but there are FIVE teams within five points who are in much better form and don't have the injury problems or CL games to contend with.

They might not even finish 5th. Or 6th.

That's going to cripple them financially as well.
I hope Everton lose one of their games in hand.

I very rarely slag players off — it’s not like me and it’s uncomfortable. It’s not like players try to suck or have a negative effort rate (except Pogba). But early in the season, the one word I’d use for Rodri is lugubrious. He was like the gum you step on in the sidewalk. That’s how I saw it. And I wasn’t shy about sharing that view.

My God — my GOD — what a fucking know-nothing twat I am. Now the word that springs to mind that ends in “ous” is “imperious”. He has been magnificent — a wall that actually runs, with a brain, and balls. He’s been a tower of strength and completely agree he was outstanding today, as he has been for weeks. I loved Nigel De Jong, and I love Ferny. In the tradition of glass-eating CDMs, he deserves every plaudit.
I was a bit like that with Cancello tbh, now it’s just, don’t leave him out.

It's plain and simple, as we all - even Dias himself - know what Salah (or Mané or Martial) does in the box. Pulling his arm is a nogo and is invitng the ref to give a pen. I can't complain about the penalty.

Dias fucked up to clear an easy ball with his foot. So what? He finally made a mistake and is a little bit human too. Mainly colossal though :)
Where's Dias meant to put his arm though? Salah is sticking his right arm straight out into Dias' chest, so where does Dias' left arm go? The only way to stop any contact is for Dias to run holding his left arm vertically up to avoid any and all contact. It's a cheats trick, put a part of your body near an opposition player and throw yourself over at the slightest contact.
Salah's arm wasn't pulled back at all and if the VAR ref had done his job Salah would have had a yellow for diving.
He probably should have just cleared it though but he shouldn't have to make a bad decision just because the opposition player is a massive cheat.

When I told my wife (still in bed with her fingers tightly crossed) the dippers had just scored a penalty her words were "Was it a dive?"
It certainly was a dive from minimal contact - it is about time the FA started coming down on these cheats.

Not for me. Zinchenko has really improved defensively over the years. Also look how many headers he's winning nowadays and controls them.
He made an early mistake to not cover TAA's right foot and let him deliver a cross,
but Salah was right in his pocket.
Zin's great ball control also is much more press resistent, esp. vs teams like dippers.

Laporte as a left foot would have had more problems vs Salah cutting inside IMO.
So you don’t think Zinc is left-footed?

OK.

Rodri was amazing today imo..

I've been singing his praises all season, guy does so much dirty work there it's unreal.

The issue he had was the obvious comparison to Fern, who to be fair has probably been the best in the world in that position for 5 years. He's not as mobile or fast but he knows how to read a game.

The start of the season was rough because he was single handedly trying to stop multiple runners which was naturally making him look awful in that role - even when we switched to him and Gundo playing as the double pivot it wasn't working for either. Fast forward a few weeks and the man is a beast, his overall game is massively underrated.

I had to laugh at that skinny prick trying act the tough man to Eddie while looking a fucking drag queen.
I'm sure he wears make up on the pitch.
If Eddie had nutted him and saw red I honestly wouldn’t have minded : )

I think the biggest surprise of the day for me was not winning at Anfield, finally. Not scoring the 4 goals. No missing a penalty (are we the only side in history whose German penalty taker actually misses?). No, what surprised me most was that Olivar didn't send Dias off after he awarded their penalty. I was sure he was going to and was shocked when he only produced a yellow. Wonder how much the recent contoversies of the Bednarek & Soucek ones played a part in this?

Outstanding performance , collateral damage caused to Liverpool and Klopp, even better.

The title is ours as long as we continue this wonderful form , incredible thing to say after the start to the season we had.

Isn''t the main point that Dias should have known that Salah is a cheat and would exaggerate any contact? Dias to my mind clearly reached out and put his hand on Salah's arm but Salah's reaction was a joke that deserved a yellow card. But you don't grab at Salah in the penalty area. More to the point, there was no need for Dias to rescue the situation because that was already in hand, and if I discover from the game replay that the covering player was John Stones then that will make me feel uneasy because the two of them ought to understand each other better by now.
