If you actually look at the goals we have conceded against them of late, most can be attributed to basic defensive errors or shots from outside the penalty area.

Their finishing in the 4-3 was actually absurd when you look back at them. Mané's in particular.

We also had Stones just back from injury and out of form.

Play that game with the same players tomorrow and the result would be different, I'm sure of it.

Still, they've improved beyond that and now have the confidence of the last 3 games against us, so it'll be harder on Sunday.

Imo, easiest way to deal with Sunday is accept the worst and assume we are getting beat, then anything whatsoever above that is a complete bonus.

I remember 50 posts like this before the CL Quarter 1st leg

Fast start required by us for a change. Make the extra 24 hours rest pay and shock them early. Their game plan out the window will throw them and we’ll control and pick them off.

For the 4-3, Delph gives up cheap ball and a shot along the ground beats Ederson.

Gundogan gives Otamendi a hospital back pass and then Mane is in.

Stones needs to be stronger but gets pushed far too easily for another.

Ederson then goes walkabout and ball is returned from 40 yards.

In the Champions League tie, Sane gives the ball away with a stupid ball across the midfield and Walker fails twice to clear the ball and Ederson is weak as fuck with a push out back onto play before Salah accepts the incompetence.

Then it's a screamer from Chamberlain after Gundogan fails to clear and wanks out of a challenge.

At our place, tiredness plays a bit part but Otamendi gets done easily and then Firmino is shown a clear route to goal.

All of the above was easily preventable, nowhere are we being undone.

It is basic pressed errors in possession. The margins are very fine, Otamendi hits the crossbar with a header at 1-1, we are a whistle away from two legitimate goals being allowed and the thud of a post from Bernardo.

This is exactly what I've been saying. All the talk of what kind of def mid we need & how we should play tactically, is irrelevant if the team plays like a bunch of wankers & the ref is bent.

The defending has been absoloutely pathetic & we would struggle against any top 6 Premier League or half decent european teams with the same performances. We were actually comfortable in the Champs Lg game & then just caved in when offside Salah had his first run.

Even then, with a fair ref, we would have had a decent result.

If we don't play like a bunch of complete twats, we will have a decent chance of beating Liverpool, even with their ref in charge.

I mentioned in premier league thread last week (Chelsea v Liverpool) that at times when Chelsea were pressed in numbers near their 18 yard box they booted it up field avoiding any possible interceptions or mistakes leading to interceptions,it wouldn’t be a bad thing if we did this from time to time ( more so against this shower) for me it definitely would ease the pressure on us that we come under when we play these fuckers as the majority of the goals we have conceded against them have come about from poor defensive mistakes, there’s no shame in launching it up field now and again..
