------------------Ederson------------------
Walker----Stones----Laporte----Mendy
---------------Fernandinho---------------
--------Bernardo---------D.Silva---------
Sterling---------Aguero-------------Sane

Bench: Muric, Danilo, Kompany, Otamendi, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Jesus

Rather than switching to 3 at the back, i think our best chance to defend in this game is simply to pass our way out and through the Liverpool press as much as we can. Stones and Laporte give us the best chance of doing that. Similarly in midfield, i'd start with Bernardo and Silva with the expectation that they can just keep the ball. With our record at Anfield, i'd be delighted with a draw today so we really don't need to take any risks going forward. Just keep the ball moving and don't be too eager to give up possession trying the killer pass when it's not really on.

It gets said every time we go to Anfield but just don't give them encouragement. We know Liverpool will run themselves into the ground from the start. We know the Anfield crowd will get behind them. Keep the ball, make them run, frustrate the crowd and take the sting out of the occasion. If we can manage to reach half-time on level terms, i'd fancy us to get the win. Gaps will appear in midfield later in the game and that's the time to throw De Bruyne and Mahrez on.

At the end of the day, if we lose again, we're only 3 points off the top and we've got our toughest game of the season out of the way. But this is a chance to end some hoodoos. Win at Anfield, goal for Aguero, Sterling plays well, De Bruyne is back and we go clear at the top of the league. I've actually got a good feeling about this one.

I'm not going to lie, it's rare I really get excited for a City game these days, we're just too powerful for most sides, even the derby's aren't what they used to be, those bastards stole that result last season.
However, a big european tie or our nascent rivalry with Liverpool is mouthwatering.
I've no idea how we will get on today, they are the type of side that are set up to beat us but if we're clinical and keep them on the
back foot as much as possible, we may get our result.
Come on blues.

i honestly think today apart from seeing where we are at playing wise ditto our gaffer We know how dedicated he is in getting things spot on. it goes without saying the defeats must have hurt him especially the Champs lge calamity. i feel its a major test for him today. Not just the pre match address but how and if he has learnt lessons and selects the team capable of giving it a right good go today. On the playing side .it wouldnt half help if we didnt give them there customary early goal.or start off like we were playing together for the first time. However the real battle is over coming the fear factor that playing in front of a cauldron of boos and vitriol that they create ( and we dont imo) Finally and most apt if the officials are in their customary red today as per. Either way i hope piano teeth is not a happy man tonight COME ON YOU BLUES

Otamendi + Liverpool press frightens me.

I’d go Laporte and Stones today.
Its a tough one I admit but even Stones facing their dynamic front three does not fill me with confidence.
I do think we should maintain the partnership that has given us multiple clean sheets so far.

Being a pessimist I would be happy with a draw, but only if they score first. That will then almost feel like a win. Hope the red twats r really complacent thinking they can just turn up and win cos it's city. If that happens will defo beat them COME ON CITY.

I wouldn't play either of Kompany or Stones. Both massively error prone against Liverpool. Laporte & Otamendi should start & Zinchenko left back.

All our centre backs have been error prone at Liverpool.

I'd play Kompany and Laporte there.

Zinchenko is fine against pretty much anyone outside the top 6, but against Liverpool, not for me.

Klopp will just target him during the 90 minutes.

Mendy isn’t that great defensively either but he us better than Zinchenko and his attacking threat is just too great not to include.

Alexander-Arnold having to come up against both Sane and Mendy? He can’t keep them both quiet for 90 minutes. No chance.

I've been overly confident about winning this match for over a week now. I think we'll win comfortably and we might even batter them 3-0, 4-1.

-----------Ederson---------
------Nico--Stones----Laporte
-Walker----Fern---------Mendy
-------Bernardo-----Dave
-------------------Jesus---------
---------Kun---------------------

He'll probably start Raz over Jesus but I think it would be better to have him come off the bench. A couple early mistakes from Raz and that crowd will be mental.
I don't mind this lineup. But I'd rather Sterling over Jesus. And based on the way Pep has talked about it, I think Sterling will definitely start.
