I blame Platini.
I don't, I blame the club, with this new TV deal and various multi-million pound sponsorships we could piss FFP and still have cheaper tickets but no they choose to squeeze as much as possible out of people and change the support to one time supporters who will come to the ground spend a fortune in the club shop and then a fortune on the food inside the ground, for my brother (now living in Cardiff) to come to that game it will cost him £92 with this Cityzen bollocks, which I'm sure is nothing to do with Monsieur Platini ticket revenue is a drop in the ocean for clubs like us

We failed FFP though even with the dearer tickets, with cheaper tickets we would have failed by more.
A few hundred thousand quid would have made no difference

On a ticket note when are we getting our bloody seasoncards/tickets???

£57 for a match is scandalous,i never thought i would see this sort of explotation at City, ahh well!It works out at just over 63p a minute.

No it wouldn't but you said we could piss FFP and have cheaper tickets when we couldn't. We may in the future but not yet. Besides A couple of hundred thousand adds up to nearly £4 million over a season again in the future it won't make much difference but in a year when we were trying to squeeze under the FFP bar every million counted.
Unfortunately we failed and got ourselves a £49 mill pound penalty which will only be reduced if we comply this year.
By the way, your brother can get a ticket, for most games without a cityzen card.

So do you expect all ticket prices to tumble once we do comply?

Ticket prices are only going one way

Its not just City increasing prices , a friend has just brought a ticket for Spurs v Liverpool £71 . Makes our prices look good .

Given the fact that the average salary in London is 40% higher than in Manchester, that's cheaper than us. In fact, given salaries in different regions, our match day ticket prices must be the most expensive in the country.

Is the average salary higher in London though for mainstream jobs in retail and the like?

I'm not sure. I haven't done a thesis on it but life down there is much more expensive than here. People defend our match day ticket prices saying that they're not quite as bad as arsenal's when in real terms they're significantly more expensive.

I would guess that for ''like for like'' jobs, wages/salaries in London would be comfortably higher in London, to account for the fact that the cost of Living is considerably higher down there.

Think somebody working in a supermarket in London will earn much the same as in Manchester. The 10 worst areas for people living on less than the living wage includes 3 from the north west and 3 from London. The number of high and super high earners in London is what pushes up the average wage there.

Have we found out what the dearest tickets are yet for the Liverpool match?

Doesn't make it ok because other teams are doing it, it's a major issue that needs addressing, low income families are being priced out of the game. If I was a kid these days there is no way my dad could afford to take me my brother and sister to a game, luckily I have enough spare money (just about) to afford mine and my sisters season tickets but if they start increasing those astronomically then I will have to call it a day, then the club will have their wish and fill my seat with someone willing to pay through the nose both for the ticket and in the club shop
