Liverpool FA Cup s/f (N) | Post Match Thread

Pep has always had the rolls royce on call. Whether is was inheriting that ridiculous core of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta at Barcelona, to the unprecedented power of the single club league in Germany, to his ability at Man City to activate any release clause he wants. Pep has never never known struggle. That's the biggest criticism of Pep, and its valid.

Granted Pep knows how to get a team playing elite level football. But if you gave Pep and Klopp 100m to build up a squad over three years. After those three years, I think I know which team would be at a higher level

Yes, when my ticket failed they sent us to the Wembley ticket office, I joined it 3ish and after an hour I reckon we moved 3 yards....thats ok but it was a 30 yard Q.

Sat in a pub and watched it on my phone 2nd half.
Dreadful. From what I am reading you weren’t the only one with tickets that didn’t work. That is terrible. Least you didn’t watch the first half.

Fucking scouse love-in not only from the bbc but also the wankers at the fa and wembley.
Why did the nation have to endure the scouse anthem dirge blasted out of the stadium pa, or our players in the tunnel?
Then we get the obligatory minutes silence, only this time it's just for one set of supporters. Why couldn't they wait wait and do it in the scouse slums when they got home.
The whole fucking pantomime left me disgusted, and that's before a ball was even kicked in anger.
Sickening.
That minutes silence was a complete fuck up from the FA - it was poorly publicised beforehand, not communicated enough on the day

AND - crucially - it followed straight after the segment in which they played Blue Moon (before cutting it short), then YNWA in full. Now this part of the pre match build was clearly intended to stoke the atmosphere and get the rivalry going, all contrived in the way they do at Wembley.

So to immediately follow YNWA, after they’d just deliberately got the rivalry atmosphere going, with a Liverpool-centric minutes silence and expecting the atmosphere to just be cut to silent again was incredibly naive.

Plus my wider point is that football has too many tragedies being respected/applauded/observed in silence/taking the knee for these days. Plus it’s on social media everywhere you go, every day. People constantly being told to feel glum for all the evils of the world, and to respect this feel a certain way about that. People are becoming desensitised to minutes’ silences so it’s no wonder that the poorly timed and badly communicated one yesterday didn’t have its desired effect.

Plus as others have said, it’s over 3 decades ago now so only naturally the tragedy doesn’t resonate with new generations and the tribute loses its magnitude each year.

Not condoning deliberate booing/disrespect if people were doing so. But it sounded to me like groups just continuing to sing City songs oblivious of the minutes silence - the booing was then in reaction to these people.

While most Blues present did respect the minute’s silence, and some of it may have been concourse singing, there were loads in the ground behind the goal who started chanting City and they knew what they were doing Tim, and that was fucking shameful, as were those booing. I hate the dippers with a passion, I hate their victim mentality (such as booing the national anthem), but there’s a time and a place if people want to be disrespectful cunts, and yesterday wasn’t it.

I also thought our support was shocking yesterday. Row upon row in where I was were sat on their hands the entire game, but let’s be honest it was the same everywhere. We can take the piss out of the dippers being Norwegians, we can give it “spot the scouser on the kop” but they were very fucking loud yesterday, from before the kick off, and all of them seemed to be singing, we never get that, too many can NEVER be arsed. Someone in front of me turned round to my 13 year old who was angry at the fact nobody was singing and said “well we all support City in our different ways”, quick as a flash my 15 year old said “yeah but not by fucking telepathy”. On this occasion he wasn’t told off for swearing.

I find it hard to criticise our lack of numbers yesterday but it was at best disappointing. My lads said it was “pathetic” and I tried explaining to them that when people criticise our support and history our support from around 1978 to 2011 was our history (of that period), and we were famous for our loyalty; “not any more dad” was the response, and it was bloody hard to argue.

As regards the team selection and performance, it was really disappointing but tbh I was more gutted last Sunday than yesterday, the PL IS more important and it hurts more when you batter the opposition and don’t win than it does to lose when you don’t turn up, players and fans. At least there’s one less PL game to squeeze in now. Not great but it’s a crumb. Let’s hope Chelsea win today and give the dippers a really hard game, and a beating.

As for the dippers fans, as loud as they were in the ground, they were unbearable cunts outside it, the only thing worse than a bad loser is a bad winner. Our group of 4 was aged 13,15, 63 and 71, hardly a threatening mob, but the number of dippers who came up to us and tried to provoke trouble was despicable. I thought they were actually worse than the villa fans at Wembley.

Not a good day, a fucking shocker, but let’s hope the injured and tired players recover and regroup and win the 2 remaining trophies. And let’s hope our fans do our job, in our own fucking ways of course
Your son is absolutely right. And as much as I dislike their fans, unfortunately and it pains me to say it, in terms of atmosphere for their team, they were excellent! It’s something we can never do to that extent!
It seems the better and more successful we get our fanbase gets smaller and quieter… bizarre! I was in 110 yesterday and lots of empty seats dotted around us. I tried to get songs going but some people look at you as if you are at the ballet and should be quiet!

on to Wednesday now! Massive game! I will still be singing loud.

Wasn’t that one of the singing sections too? How did they go on? It was around there wasn’t it?

You might think you "know" but, of course, you don't. I think your opinion is coloured by envy but would certainly agree that it would be cheaper to build a side to play as Klopp does because you don't require technically gifted players to do it. Pep was brought in to play a specific style which he does. Most times it works, sometimes it doesn't. That's why Pep has won more trophies than Klopp.

The reason he keeps getting jobs at the top clubs is because of his continued success at them. You wouldn’t say to a Michelin starred chef “yeah but what can you do with a findus crispy pancake and a turnip”. You hire them to work at the elite level, that’s the point. It’s an odd criticism.

On the building a squad, neither of them are accountable for transfers, we’re a long way away now from the all encapsulating manager role.

Fat female Rag with a United shirt on came out of her house to the front garden cheering when Liverpool scored their 2nd.

Just think about that, a United fan cheering for a Liverpool goal and win.

Just think how many asthmatics you can treat with £100m

It was a tired and leggy performance and a selection missing six or seven starters against a well rested full strength Dipper team , that is a fact and not an excuse. If we were going to lose one of the four big games we chose the right one , we have possibly ten games to go and we have to win at least nine of them or i think we will end up empty handed this season
That's a big ask but this manager and squad of players have done it before , worryingly some players are looking jaded and treading water our squad depth isnt all that it seems , and when players like Steffen, Zinchenko , Jesus come in there is a definite drop in quality , they arent poor players just not elite level.
The whole football world is banking on us to stop the Dippers , because i dont see Real Madrid or Chelsea/Palace being good enough.

Get back to doing what you do best, booing your own players, managers and ex players.

You cannot hide the truth by subtle digs. Ferran hasn't pulled up any trees at Barca, yet their fans are happy to get him over Sterling.
So you think Torres is better than Sterling..by the way it's not a subtle dig it was a full on dig.
Stick to bigging up the dippers

I was in 518 yesterday. What a dreadful day. We (the team and support) looked and sounded beat before we began and those scouse twats felt that as soon as the teams were announced. I knew we would make changes but I was shocked by the team Guardiola put out. He effectively threw the game. I concur with what others have said about the minutes silence or whatever it was supposed to be. It absolutely wasn’t clear what was going on. That said, when the penny did drop people needed to shut the fuck up.

I agree. I think we are flat as a fanbase. We don’t really sing, chant or support the team now, other then the odd game. It’s been like that the last few times at Wembley.

im a hypocrite as I didn’t go yesterday. I don’t enjoy Wembley or the journey there and thought I’d save myself some money and have a better time watching it with my mates in the pub… that view was shared by lots of city fans

Some boring twat actually shusshed me at Wembley a few years ago. The Liverpool league cup final i think.

I was swearing too much in front of his kid apparently, lol.

Like I said before, those people who behaved badly have to look at themselves and it was a minority. The minutes reflection / silence was observed where I was although I didn’t know what it was for at the time. I hear City made an apology for our fans behaviour. FWIW I don’t want any Bolton fan or a Communications Director, who threw Mancini under the bus, apologising for me.

The lack of vocal support for the team was disappointing. I was up but there were guys next to me who only watched 25 minutes of each half. In fairness, I think a lot of Blues didn’t really want to be there yesterday and turned up out of loyalty for our Club. I wouldn’t have missed the game but it became a bit of a chore if I’m being frank. I spent many hours getting enough peole to fill a coach. Then dishing out tickets to Branch members and hanging about to ensure they got in the ground before I went in. All the members were spot on to be fair.

In the last dozen years, I’ve been to Wembley approximately 25 times (including 5 RL Challenge Cup Finals). I think it would have been a much better atmosphere if the game had been held at Villa Park but I know thwas never going to happen.

There is a reason why the media have launched a tirade of negativity against our Club in the last two weeks. If we weren’t winners they wouldn’t bother but some of this shite appears to have worn down some of our support.

Credit to the overwhelming majority of Blues who made the trip to Wembley to support the lads.

Well I’ll be cheering the rags on Tuesday, and I’m a right fat git:) she couldn’t lose really could she, one of us had to lose
