Liverpool FA Cup s/f (N) | Post Match Thread

Yep.
To which I would simply add — and I still think Zak's pretty good as a back-up keeper — they were playing their world-class keeper, we weren't playing ours.
You're anything less than a top-class keeper, you get found out against this lot. You don't against Peterborough and Fulham.
Allison regularly makes mistakes and gave the ball away a few times today. Our keeper made a mistake and got punished. All other things aside they always seem to be lucky that way.

Disgusting from our fans who disrespected the minutes silence.shame on you. Fair result. Bad day at the office. Our fans were very quite today. Totally out sung
Quiet? When we've been there more or less twice a season for the last eleven years its bound to be effected compared to a team that rarely gets there. I'm guessing you were not at the 2011 game against trafford, when I doubt if there has been any club louder than we were that day.
As for the disrespect for the minutes silence, I believe it was fans coming in late who had no idea it was happening.
We've proved in the past we respect these, especially the Munich anniversary at OT when the whole world thought we'd do otherwise.

Come on mate, you cannot polish a turd. Not allowed! :)
Sam I think your right, best sacrificing the cup from the 3rd rd, play academy team and have done. We drag out this stupid dance it harms us. Best play fewer games if we haven't got the squad to win these domestic semi's...what is the point otherwise?

Honestly, I’m not one to criticise but that was horrendous. You just don’t start with this XI against Liverpool. What’s the point progressing into the final stages of cups if we keep throwing them away like this? Why wait until after the 80th minute to throw in players who can influence the game. Besides Foden’s instant impact after coming on in the first leg against AM, what’s going on with his dip in form. Grealish not doing enough to start in a game like this. Zinchenko not getting much game time lately really showed today. Anyone else bothered to run as hard as Bernado was?

Every City fan at the stadium today deserves a refund. Liverpool weren’t even anywhere near their best. Yet we have to rotate keepers because it’s a “cup tie”. As far as I’m concerned, we’ve probably got Liverpool thinking they can seriously go and get the quadruple from here.

I hope this doesn’t shatter our confidence and affect us keeping our heads in the league and CL. I’ll love them again tomorrow morning but that was seriously infuriating and we’ve only got ourselves and poor game management to blame for it.

For once in a long time I couldn’t bring myself to clap the lads off the pitch today.

Of course I cheered them on during the game but that was a shitshow of a performance & ultimately felt sorry for the lads & lasses who made the difficult journey down south to see this.

The writing on the wall when the team lineup was announced compounded by a lacklustre 1st half where it seemed only Foden seemed to care about the game. Mistakes galore & I spent the majority of the second half at the bar topping up the Wembley coffers.

Had a few mates with me who were amazed with my prediction that regardless of the scoreline Pep will not make a sub until the 80th minute.

He needs to get over this stubborn Bielsa trait & perhaps give the kids a try when all is lost in certain games otherwise why bring them along if he had not intention of playing any of them.

Disappointed to say the least & for all of you who state there are bigger fish to fry try telling that to the fine supporters who made in down here at expense & amidst transport difficulties- a bloody pistake.

My sole criticism of Pep today is his loyalty to Steffen. Ederson's ability on the ball is unrivalled and Liverpool, similar to Southampton last round, knew they could press aggressively with him in goal. It's a dire error.

Not sure why hasn't been made of the absurd scheduling this week. Had Liverpool been presented with a competitive game midweek, both teams would've started with similarly weakened sides. Their starting core were sat on the bench (at Anfield) & ours played an intense 100 plus mins, haven't been home & are then expected to play at full bore again. It isn't possible. We'll see how they fare on Tuesday when they have to play a 'stronger' opponent and unlikely to be able to rest their starters today.

If we want to walk away with the big prizes, the finishing has to improve immediately. That chance for Jesus at 1-3 had to go in. We created enough to beat them last Sunday too. The games against Real & some of our upcoming opponents are going to be tight.

I'm disappointed but the fight & drive shown in the second half reassured me. Brighton will be a big test on Wednesday, we all need to be behind the players.

Yes we were quite today and we got outsung. I’ve no excuses for our minority idiots. Every club has them. Can’t take their ale don’t drink
