I think we will be slow starting for this with them coming in 100mph and it's highly probable we won't be able to get upto speed to match them but the extra rest afforded to the players now will stand us in good stead for the season ahead. Other teams have had players involved in the quarter finals play for them today, we still haven't got the last 16 lot back in training.

I want to win this game and this competition and I want to beat those feral lot every time but we have to prioritise. I want to win the league more. We've got an incredibly tough 2 months ahead, Leeds is the one we need to be ready for.

Where were Rodri and Laporte today? They got knocked out first round and haven’t played for 2 weeks.
I’d say it’s part of the plan to give most of the players a good amount of time off so they’re fresh for the second half of the season. The schedule is going to be mayhem, so I don’t see the problem in giving the players a winter break.

Maybe only Laporte, Rodri and Akanji to add to today's squad? Suspect the players out in the quarters won't be back in training until late next week at best
Probably won't happen, but both Grealish and Phillips got very little game time in the world cup so they should be relatively fresh. Both may get on the bench.

What a dreadful date to put this on.
Only a few days after the world cup what are the league thinking? And they pair us with Liverpool surprise surprise.

Going to be difficult to get a decent xi not our fault of course but Liverpool look like they will have a stronger team so our poor run against them looks like it may continue.
Come on blues.
