Liverpool (H) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Fantastic win today and cements our dominance over a team who we have won so much more than recently but not always beat individually. Fck the scouse cnts!

Said it in the matchday thread but the tactics/ system we've played against Arsenal and now Liverpool is similar to Kompanys. The four man press of Haaland, Semenyo, Cherki and Doku. Is exactly how Kompanys Bayern squeeze the game.

I hadn't thought about CL games and the impact. Odd really because it's something we've suffered with for years, will be new to Arsanal. Mind they likely won't be facing a Real Madrid type opponent like we've always had, so that is knackering before a semi. They'll probably be playing the Dog and Bone from Dubrovnic at home. ( slight dramatic licence there, I haven't a scoobies who is on their side of the draw, all I know is that it is pi££ easy compared to what we normally face CL Sf stage....)

I want to beat them again in a FINAL.

Nb I agree with Big Erl that it is not acceptable that we are no longer in the CL. We need to be 1st or 2nd in that league phase next season and avoid Real Mardarses until the final.
I had thought about it a few weeks ago. Precisely because we always suffer from it ourselves and end up playing a second string in the semi finals regardless of the opponent, the Zack Steffen clanger game against the dippers with a complete second 11 was a painful day.

Might be wrong but I think Arsenals likliest opponents in a potential CL semi final would be Barcelona or Atletico Madrid so hardly chumps and the semi final of the FA cup is played the weekend before the first leg making it the perfect time to play Arsenal. Presuming they win later, if us or Chelsea get them, we'd be at a major advantage if they rest players. If they get anyone else, you'd expect them to play an entire second 11 and still beat whoever they get.

What an absolutely magnificent performance from all of them.

I’m not just talking about the way we played from about the 20-minute mark, but throughout the whole game, as we defended brilliantly in the early stages, when Littlewoods were dominating possession. Abdu, especially for that double challenge on the falling pharaoh. How he got up from the initial tackle and made the second one was amazing.

But once we started to move up through the attacking gears from about 20 minutes, there was only going to be one winner.

A clearer penalty you will be hard-pressed to witness, despite van Dijkhead's claims. And didn’t the big Norwegian take it well? Almost Mario-like, in the way he waited for the Georgian to move, before slotting it in the opposite corner. Erling’s movement for the second and third was outstanding. His header for the second was fitting complement to the wonderful cross from Antoine. And the little stop completely lost VvD for his third.

The finish from our #42 was sublime and a joy to watch.

Any of the other teams in the semis, apart from cheating Arsenal, please, as they’ve beaten us the last twice we’ve met them at that stage.

YNWA….. apart from when they get twatted at the Etihad and all fuck off early. Shit house fans as usual.
Nowt wrong with fans pissing off after 60 minutes when 4-0 down, unless it's the self-styled (and media styled) "best fans in the world".
At least the performance gave them an excuse. Not sure why our fans were pissing off early.

Liverpool were better than OK - being dissed by their own fans for no reason in the media is actually a disgrace. That said City were sensational. No one had a bad game and 5 players were just incredible and 1 was sensational.

Khusanov was amazing at centre half, Rodri was finally back to his best in centre mid. Doku pulled Liverpool's defence all over the shop and Haaland was cool and precise. Semenyo was good too his chipped goal was simply the best goal of the season from a finish and build up perspective.

But... Cherki was just sensational. Quite simply this guy is going to be the best player in the world. You may as well give France the World Cup trophy now if he plays like that.

The Cherry on the top mind was Trafford savving Salah's pen.

Have some of that!

That was beyond enjoyable. So many positives in that game. Can't single anyone out, they were all superb.

I think I'm falling in love with Khusanov.
