Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to Match of the Day: "That was an excellent performance. I am really proud that after eight years we are still playing that way. We were really good in all departments and needed to be against an incredible team.
"Maybe we missed the last pass a little bit but they defended really well. To concede just two shots on target against Liverpool is a big compliment for the way we work.
On Erling Haaland's goal: "It was really good and the action from Nathan [Ake] was perfect. We know the quality of Erling."

Disappointing result. Our squad strength is lighter and weaker than last season. I know it's early days for them before I'm jumped on but Nunez and Kovacic look poor panic buys

Upfront we are poor. Foden has treaded water for a couple of years now. He still lacks consistency and hasn't reached the levels everyone thought he would. Alvarez blows hot and cold. Doku has promise, Grealish we know about. All of them don't score enough to help Haaland out. We need a powerful goalscoring Tevez type but where are they?

We also seem easier to play through this season and to get at our defence.

It's weird. There are times you can see how good we are, in the first half at times Liverpool couldn't get near us. We were robbed though, no way was that a foul on Alison it was a ridiculous decision.

Still we are top for now but our last two games we have the see them as four points dropped.
I definitely agree about Foden. I think how you’ve described him couldn’t have put it better. I agree about Kovacic and Nunez too, no idea how Nunez will improve us. I like Alvarez though.
Sometimes, I wish Pep would make a sub, especially when we were under a bit of pressure and they were building a bit of momentum. Alvarez would have been knackered all the travelling so him off and Lewis on to help out could have made that difference.

Opportunity missed but not the end of the world as the city machine slowly starts to get up to full speed as usual.

Should have put them away but that's the rub of only having a one goal lead.

Couple of through balls to Haaland weren't picked out and chose a poorer option.

Onwards and upwards.
Bet he’s desperate for kev back. should have been played in a couple of times

The Boys in Blue never gave in. They fought to the end. Thank you City. Thank you lads. Thank you fans. You did us proud.
You showed ‘em, you showed ‘em all. Especially that diving crowd from the wrong end of the East Lancs Road. Especially that stupid load of wallies in the media. Especially that lot of officials who try to do us down but can’t because we are better than them.

THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.
