Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I said a few weeks back that they have an effective system and are very efficient without catching the eye. That is what we saw today. On the other hand I'm effing dumbstruck at our defensive showings this season. Those 2 goals today were more or less assists from us and we just don't learn. We look bang average.
You are correct so many opposition goals involve assists from us and yet we have to work so hard to create an opening.

I thought it was fair in the circumstances. We played in Madrid on Wednesday and were without Haaland and Stones, on top of Rodri. And we murdered their full backs. Nothing came from that but in some respects we did play well.

You have to account for the problems facing City. We were well beaten but if you take the background, you can say we did OK
We "murdered" their fullbacks? Would that be the fullbacks that got forward at will and in support of their forward players.
A couple of dribbles that came to sweet nothing.

dippers wanted a simple game where they dont need to do sick amount of running and transitions, a few were enough to hurt us and scored 2 goals from their first two on target attempts. after that Slot was clever to sit back deeper let us pass around and them not losing too much energy, let us try to find gaps but it resulted Allison falling sleep really as mostly it went down to Doku on left who never got a good shot or cross or we tried to pass inside to Foden who couldnt even touch the ball without giving it away.

thats exactly what Slot needed to do in a good lead, they made sure Allison doesnt have to face a serious shot all game.
compare that to what we did multiple times in this season in a lead.

compared to this dippers played Villa midweek with a 2-2 draw they almost lost and had to run more and was a much harder game for them.

we dont make it hard for top teams this season at all. the way we played vs PSG, Arsenal, Real and now dippers, its extremely poor to our standards. all these other managers in these games were shocked imo how little was enough vs City to get a big win. Real struggled much vs Osasuna last week, Arsenal struggled much more vs a poor WHU this weekend, dippers will struggle more vs Newcastle in 3 days...

You reckon that was "fairly good"?
No matter who's perspective or personna I take on, I'm struggling with that.
Agreed.
Don’t know how fans can sugarcoat crap performances.
The writing was on the wall before a ball was kicked with Haaland out, Dias marding on the bench and a 1 man midfield,
Liverpool did not have to get out of 2nd gear (again) to get their easiest 6 points of the season.
I see teams like Wolves and Everton regularly give them a more honest game than we did.

Even when we good it was usually one shot one goal for the opposition. It's always been a problem but we were better at breaking teams down so it didn't matter in the long run.

Doku and Khusanov were fantastic, gave their best and fought, some were trying, some were bad, but Trent looked like an intern, someone doing his apprenticeship against Doku or like the most shit defender of the Premier league. Move on, top 4 is the goal.

The standards we set were so high, that at the moment even fairly good performances are deemed rubbish or unacceptable by some ‘fans’.

No perspective, no empathy, no understanding.
Clutching straws talking Performances is a coping mechanism, it’s all about results

Kushanov and the two wingers were bright points, Speedy ok.
Despite defeat I am quite happy that the first blocks of the rebuild are in place alongside the other younger players we have.
Lets hope Haalands not out long.
Foden and Rico very poor.

Liverpool not as good as I thought, the team that finished on 97 points was better than this one.
This I think is absolutely spot on.

Lewis looks better higher up the field than defending deep.
Gvardiol improves weekly

That game should have been the writing on the wall. So many say they didn't see our demise coming but that game screamed, "old, ageing squad that needs a ruthless clear out"
Our record against the top teams was very poor last season, it’s just others were worse. The writing was on the wall

The first 15 pages on this thread are hilarious.

The same posters as always, saying the same over the top rubbish.

We were missing the best striker in the world, the best defensive midfielder in the world and our best defender. Our other best defender is just coming back from injury. Akanji is also injured so that's why he played Rico. We had three new players bedding in.

If liverpool had these same injuries than they would stuggle too.

We've won 4 titles in a row, rather than criticising and abusing these players these posters should be understanding that this is just a down season and a season too far for the ageing players. Rather that saying they're cowards and toothless etc.

Can somebody explain why Pep brought Dias on at 78mins?
Baffled, Pep is is staring to mess up his legendary status.
We played against Real Madrid in midweek and Ake regularly has injury problems. Why do you ask stupid questions? You should not even have to ask.
