Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Did I say it is the law?

The vast majority of people do wear it to show appreciation to those who sacrificed their lives …imho.
Yes a lot of people do. It's also mainly a British thing. Felt it was an odd thing to point out on the post match thread

I’m in Tenerife and gutted to have missed it. Watched it with the Tenerife Citizens in Los Cristianos. Totally concur with your analysis. Doku was different gravy today. So deserved his goal.
I'm off to Fuerteventura on Wednesday and looking forward to seeing the Scouse twats the infest our airport..will be wearing my City shirt to rub it in lol..
Enjoy your holiday mate

That was the quietest ive ever seen the Dippers fans at the Etihad.
Then again if there watching that shower of shite every week I get were there coming from.
It's looking like another shit show performance from the current champions.
Forget four in a row I cant see them managing back 2 back prem titles in my lifetime.CTID.
Bernardo played like we expected his hatred for the Dippers is so obvious.
Doku deserves that goal he was unplayable at times.
Nico G improves each game.
All our defence look confident with the Don in net. Especially our fullbacks.
Their fans are always shite - got about 2 songs, no humour or spontaneity and look like they've come from a train spotting convention

Wow, what a day, what a game. That was a throwback to the old Maine Road days for atmosphere, the place was absolutely bouncing, everybody up for it. The incessant grey Manchester rain swirling around in the wind simply added to the occasion.
What a performance. Although we probably got away with one with their disallowed goal it would have been an absolute injustice. 2-0 up at halftime and it really should have been five. Led by the unplayable Doku we absolutely battered Liverpool and they were hanging on for grim death. Haalands missed penalty could have dampened our mood and lifted them but thankfully it didn't happen. We really need to sort out a reliable penalty taker though, surely somebody in our team can take one? Oh for a Ya Ya or Mario!
The second half they came into it a bit more but Doku's magnificent strike knocked the stuffing out of them. I'm in the south stand but even from there everybody knew it was a goal the moment it left his foot. They were absolutely terrified of him and its noticeable their best spell came when he went off as they could push forward more without the threat of him running at them. If there has to be a criticism its our tendency to give the ball away by misplaced passes, often under no pressure at all. Also, when a player has done really well to regain possession, dribbling into trouble and losing it again when a simple pass would prevent it. Once we iron out those faults from our game we will be even harder to play against.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable day. The team were magnificent collectively and some individuals even better. Signs we are getting back to our best. The scouse twats were destroyed on and off the field and left in absolutely no doubt how much we hate the feral crying shitbags.
Edited to add: I've just read seven of our starting outfield ten yesterday were 23 or under....wow.

Robertson knew, he didn’t even celebrate, he was waitin for the ref to disallow it
After watching motd and watching those two idiots desperately trying to make it a controversy to excuse liverpool there is four very good reasons why it was not a goal which you can use with any dippers you might encounter today:

1) donnaruma immediately after the goal is conceded gets up and points to robertson clearly indicating that he was in his eyeline, if he wasnt affecting play then donnaruma wouldnt have known he was there to point.

2) donnaruma cant fully commit to the dive as he doesnt know robertson isnt going to divert the ball into another area of the net and has to take that into account which means he has to dive late.

3) in any other area of the pitch if a player dummies the ball in order to make a player believe that something is going to happen when it doesnt it is the dictionary definition of interfering with play, robertson ducks under the ball to dummy it so is obviously interfering with play.

4) fuck them feral bin dipping cunts, they get literally every decision go in their favour even when its patently wrong and they need to learn to accept that it is possible for a better team to beat them and not every loss is the result of a dogy ref, or the wrong weather or teams not setting up how theyd like.

The morning after a brilliant performance against a key rival, one touted as overwhelming favourites for the league, and the window's biggest spenders.

It is a pleasure, for me, to watch the development of this team. We did a lot of soul-searching both during and after last season. Some lost the faith built after a decade of success, and many players could no longer rise again after smashing records that could never be reached. The team was riddled with injury and illness, and we made some mistakes too. Now, we have a bright, young team to watch grow, aided by the greatest manager the world has known and a new coaching team to freshen things up and add new ideas.

There is a feeling that some players, Haaland, Dias, and Foden, are beginning to relish their role in raising a new group. Dias' interview with Doku was very telling - the encouragement, the demands, and the comradeship - in demonstrating that we have leaders ready to help the team rise again. No team has ever won everything there is to win, season after season, so we must learn to accept the journey, but we have some serious, serious potential among this group. When we signed Vinnie and KDB, nobody sensed the legends they would become. Now, we have a new crop, blessed with potential, and I genuinely believe that we could be on the cusp of something special once more.

I would urge everyone to watch the latest Inside City, and witness what is going on behind the scenes because there is a genuine togetherness that could lift this team to greatness once more.

Shout out to @CorporateBlue for the tip on free WiFi on my flight today. Got to watch the whole game live and uninterrupted.

That was a fine tribute for Pep's 1000 game as a manager. Players were immense. One or two of them that seemed to be struggling for form seem to have just clicked in recent weeks. Nunes was great down that right hand side. Solid in defence and that cross for Haaland's goal was special.

Doku was utterly superb today. Run them absolutely ragged and they didn't have a clue how to handle him. I though from about 20 minutes in he was going to be a solid contender for MotM, and he didn't let me down. O'Riley had one of his best games in a City shirt. Pocketed Salah, who pretty much gave up even trying to get past him after around 70 minutes.

Nico G has definitely found his feet in the DM role, and his goal was Rodri-esque. VDD was a staue in defence as it sailed into the net. Bernie didn't stop running all game again. His booking was justified, but given what he let them get away with, a little unfair. Phil also put a shift in and seemed to enjoy himself today, and Haalland, despite not getting many chances took his header well (right place to get his head on it). Cherki also played well again and didn't seem to want to come off, which is a really good sign.

Back line was solid again, and Dias is coming back into form again. Gvardiol also put in another solid performance, both players seem to be benefitting from game time.

Definitely a penalty, and I'd have put money on Haaland tucking it away, but their antics in the build up (appearing to scuff up the spot, and knocking into Haaland a few time as he was waiting to take the kick) was standard fayre from those cheating cunts. Take nothing away from the save though.

At the other end, Dick Van Dipper was unlucky with the disallowed goal. I don't think Robertson was interfering with Donna's line-of-sight, and I'd have been pissed off if had been the other way round, but fuck 'em. I also think St. Virgil should have been booked for a snide foul on Cherki, and their was also a push on Doku that went unpunished (Sobozoli?).

Starting to click.

Oh, and Wirtz (or Wieertz, as John Champion kept referring to him as on my comms) was dogshit.
Easy goal to rule out because he ducked out of the way of the ball and I would be annoyed at one of our players doing that rather than moving away.
Overall this was a big performance which brought us back to the spring of 23 and opens up the prospect of more joy next May.

Delighted but not surprised by today’s showing.

Still loads to improve on but the team is going in the right direction and has the potential to become significantly better, which is a very exciting prospect.

It’s a great end to a very good week of football for City.

What particularly pleases me is that there are several players in the team who had been written off for one reason or another by plenty of the online fanbase that are starting to shove the negativity back down the throats of the doubters. It is still early days but hopefully they will keep doing that as it is a real pleasure to see players develop the way the likes Nunes and the Nicos are. The return to form of Foden, Dias and the irrepressible Bernardo is so important.
I think as fans we sometimes get caught in the motion but no player should ever be abused if they wear the sky blue shirt CTID

Why is it when a decision goes against the red scousers it’s a travesty and the media go all in calling it out, strange when decisions go against City or other teams it’s deemed as one of those things and it evens itself out over the season or just the shrug of the shoulders and get on with it ..
It's annoying, but I think there is also a media recognition that it wouldn't have made much difference because we were so much the better side.

Straw clutching of the highest order.

It’s 100% offside.

Having that horrible **** Robertson within half a mile of you would “interfere” with how you felt by making you feel ill, never mind interfering with play.

It's the action of ducking. It influences Donnarumma's decision making and ability to get the ball, regardless of his line of sight, as it looks possible that Robertson is looking to contact the ball. As he's offside when he does this, it's deemed as interfering with play in an offside position.

It's not hard, but it's difficult to see through those Liverpool tears. The pundits are showing their true colours and/or lack of knowledge by coming out and saying it should have stood.

Yes, as a city fan I expected the goal to be given. Every team expects their side to get the rough end. But it's not hard to see why it was disallowed and it's a consequence of this tactic of hassling the goalkeeper and defences responding by pushing out fast, so that the guy intending to disrupt the defenders actually ends up disrupting his own team.
