Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Two physically imposing and mobile full-backs are making all the difference to this team.

So smart to have Doku playing tucked in because teams are struggling to get around us and also have to drop back because of our overloads in the middle.

Hard work always beats talent and if you have both, it is a lethal combination.

Gonzales and Bernie are so good together and the return of Rodri should see a double pivot which would mean Bernie, Cherki and Savinho, vying for the open slot on the right side.

I watched our full backs yesterday in wonderment. I knew Doku was capable of the performance he gave but the two full backs stepped up and they have been very good in recent games. But, you would have to go a long way to see both full backs in a team putting in such complete performances.

Absolutely this .... so glad I've been proved wrong about Nunes, he's been sensational lately and young Nico could well be England's first choice LB next summer. The positions he finds himself in, in the opposition box are outrageous.

It's a helluva physical requirement from both, but they are big units and it helps massively that they are technically good being midfielders by trade.

That felt like a statement of intent. We’re not there yet but we are much much better than last season. Intriguing that only Cherki and Donarumma were the only new players compared to the same fixture last season. Thought yesterday would be a good indicator of where we are and we certainly are heading in the right direction.

We still have a few spells of fragility, Salah and Gakpo should have scored and it was far too easy for Van Dijk for the disallowed goal, but we’re much sharper going forward and far less vulnerable on transitions.

Nico x2, Doku, Bernardo and Dias excellent yesterday. Gvardiol was good but still has a bad habit of giving the ball away needlessly. Nunes looks the part at right back but his concentration needs to improve. He switched off for Gakpo’s chance and I think he was the one playing Salah onside for his chance. Pity Haaland didn’t hit the century. Cherki was a bit too casual at times.

We seem to be cursed from the penalty spot against Liverpool (Mahrez, KDB,Gundogan and now Haaland have all missed). While we have beaten them in 2 penalty shootouts the last successful penalty I can remember was Anelka’s!

The thing that is getting overlooked is that HE HAS DONE IT WITHOUT SEVERAL OF OUR BEST PLAYERS!!!!!

I would never have dreamed even a couple of months ago that a City team without Stones, Rodri, Reinders and Alt Nouri would outplay Liverpool like that.
I for one don’t miss Rudolph.

Still remarkable that they only just finished spending that money on Isak.

Both never missed a penalty for City
Mario had 100% career record until Rainer saved one his overall record was 91% 48/53
Yaya only missed one in his entire career in 2002 scored 14 for City 14/15 overall
Erling overall 44/51 City record 23/29 his success rate has deteriorated in the last two seasons 7/12
If KUN was brought down v QPR.........

Give him a break? What have I done wrong?
my only real criticism of him in the post was he failed to give an obvious foul which I stand by.

Other than that I criticised whoever put him in charge of this game, as he’s from greater Manchester, so easy for the dippers to complain and for city fans there’s a lot of rumours about him being a dipper.

I called out that officially he’s a Droylesden fan.
I think my comment was fair and my main criticism was for his selection, as if a big decision went against either team the fans would cry foul.
Unfortunately for him it was the dippers and they’re not as forgiving as City fans.
Not you personally ,just critics from ALL CLUBS in general

Excellent showing from us yesterday. Delighted to have finally beaten one of the title contenders after a run of 9 games without a win v LFC and Arse.
Doku was again hugely impressive and many others were excellent too.
Gvardiol had an absolute stinker 2nd half though, kept losing the ball.
That 2nd goal, what a move from being tied down at our own corner flag and then to get the ball forward was amazing.
Liverpool looked decidedly ordinary yesterday, a joy to see.
Erl needs a spell off the pens.
Unlike Pep to bring somebody off so early 2nd half? Cherki looked well off the pace yesterday.
Nunes outstanding at right back again. Dias marshalling the defence well.
Nic O'Reily did so well to keep Salah so quiet, well done lad.

I get what youre saying Dave but tbf not sure AN is one of our best players. Too early to say. Nico will have to get an injury for him to get back into the team. Reinders is a good player but I think he maybe interchanged with Cherki While we intergrate Rodders back in the team. One things for sure we look like we have some quality on the bench to account for any injuries bar Haaland of course.

Liverpool Football club have issued a medical update on Conor Bradley

After heavy sedation Conor enjoyed a comfortable night in hospital. Given the correct medication and treatment his physical problems will soon heal. Yesterday, he sustained extensive injuries to his kneck, shoulders, upper torso, pelvis, legs and ankles through constantly being turned inside out.

However, there are serious concerns regarding his long term mental condition. A warning has been issued to family and friends not utter the words Jeremy Doku in his presence, failure to ignore this warning could seriously impede his recovery. Instead they must constantly repeat the reassuring phrase " you had Vinicius Junior in your pocket lad "

The staff , management, players and supporters wish to reassure Conor that You will never walk alone...... Unless your three none down at the Etihad where your definitely on your own.
