Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

The 2 red scousers at work didn’t even mention the disallowed goal. Just said that they were well beaten. It’s mainly the media beating this drum it seems.
Fair enough to proper LFC fans, if they admit they well beaten ?
But, read the invited comments on the Guardian report this morning.
The vast majority think the goal should have stood.
Some even say Big Erl's header was a lucky deflection !
LFC have the most one-eyed fans, who can seldom if ever give praise to their opponents.
City must really get on their nerves, as they really believe they will win the league every season...

You do realise that it's only the angry feeling victimised ones that bother to comment don't you?
:-)

What a happy bunny am I. Superb first half and we did enough in H2 to consolidate. That Doku goal sealed it.

The dippers’ disgruntlement over VAR makes it all the more sweet. Samaritans’ lines must be melting.

We are now genuine title challengers. In fact I think we can do it.

Bring on the fkn Tarquins.

Interesting that SLY are saying Arsenal are still four points clear, but are refusing to acknowledge that the next time they run out, which will be against arch rivals Spurs, it could be down to one point as we play the day before

Did you check who we are playing away, Newcastle is not the easiest place to go so never count your chickens

Two physically imposing and mobile full-backs are making all the difference to this team.

So smart to have Doku playing tucked in because teams are struggling to get around us and also have to drop back because of our overloads in the middle.

Hard work always beats talent and if you have both, it is a lethal combination.

Gonzales and Bernie are so good together and the return of Rodri should see a double pivot which would mean Bernie, Cherki and Savinho, vying for the open slot on the right side.
Imagine the scenes when both Rodri and Gonzalez are locking off the middle in big CL away games.

Absolutely this .... so glad I've been proved wrong about Nunes, he's been sensational lately and young Nico could well be England's first choice LB next summer. The positions he finds himself in, in the opposition box are outrageous.
NOR is some player. I still think he’ll end up at CM. Yaya vibes written all over him.

I can't remember which clown it was after the game, think it was michael owen, sorry to him if it wasn't,
but some ex-dipper pundit said that there was no way haaland knew anything about the header, he wasn't expecting it and it came off the top of his head.
Some piece of fortune that, eh.

Thais was a thrilling performance and I’ve not enjoyed a Sunday Evening so much in a long time. Se were streets ahead of the scousers and yet they were praised to the skies for rebuiilding while ‘on top’. At a cost of a mere halo a billón! But they have replaced the wrong players…. With the wrong players? Salah looke depressed even before Nico got at him! Van Dyk was all over the place. Of the new players Wirtz lasted 80 mins before being subbed. He had looked nowhere near the level of any City midfielder. Ekitiké was subbed after a completely anonymous 50 odd mins. Where were the others. If Liverpool couldn’t compete in the market before, £500m later they sure as Hell can’t now. Great day!

Our great football club must have given them ptsd with them chucking away a 10 point lead in 18-19 and matching them stride for stride on the run in to take it away from them that season. Not to mention in 2022 when we went two down to Villa in the final game of the season and KdB, Gundo and Rodri hauled us back off the deck. Then there was 2014 with the slip and crystambul, they imploded from a good position in 2024 as well.

When Manchester City get a sniff in a title race it usually results in scousers crying about something. A team that has won a historic 4 in row titles with a treble chucked in for good measure. Where as their recent history is 2 league titles in 35 years.

It's a helluva physical requirement from both, but they are big units and it helps massively that they are technically good being midfielders by trade.
Yeah, it's giving Pep some fantastic tactical options: both can do thw wing back thang but also can step inside to midfield and both are now defending like "real" full backs.

I assume both players have decide that being a starting FB for MCFC is a decent career option.

I try to avoid getting into the slate a player club but I cannot deny having doubts about Nunes as a signing and as anything more than a back-up option at FB but he looks like he is starting to think like a defender and if you tie that to his physical attributes, it is starting to look like a winning combination. I suspect we are also seeing the benefits of your manager showing trust a playing you regularly: some player need to play regulalry to get their best form and this may be true of Nunes.

The thing that is getting overlooked is that HE HAS DONE IT WITHOUT SEVERAL OF OUR BEST PLAYERS!!!!!

I would never have dreamed even a couple of months ago that a City team without Stones, Rodri, Reinders and Alt Nouri would outplay Liverpool like that.
Not sure we can list Ait Nouri and Rjeinders as our best players. Don’t think that really matters though as Stones and Rodri absolutely are. Peak stones and Rodri walk into any side. Rodri best in world. We just out played them yesterday in every aspect of the game and it was brilliant to watch.

It would be both wonderful and hilarious (in a good way) if Nico does become England's LB for the World Cup.
