Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

In this clip you can see how much Robertson being in an offside position affected Donnarumma.

i feel like this is something that has been discussed before, possibly last season, but anyway;

Is Roberston offside when he's pushing? If you cant be offside from a corner, when is he offside? As soon as someone from his team touches it (in which case the pushing has ended as is 'foul' or 'not foul') or from some strange interim period when the ball is in the air?

If we hadn't conceded that lucky last minute equaliser at Highbury we would be level with them.
The stupid defeats to Brighton (especially) and Spurs are what has really hurt us. I thought we were a little unfortunate at Villa but that was one of those defeats that you just have to take on the chin: you can't win them all.

Overall, we probably should be sitting on more points.

How reliable is Steve Nicol as a pundit on :-

His former club Liverpool - is he like Flipper ?
City - does he have sly digs like Rat & Flipper ?

Unfortunately, never watch the US channel he is a pundit on, but it would be refreshing to have an ex-Dipper who is fair.

Saw it on ESPN Channel.
It was more a rant really and came at the end of his criticism of all the Pool players and particularly the inactivity of their manager during a disastrous first half for Lpool.
To be fair he praised Pep and City but blamed Lpool mostly for the defeat.

Steve Nichol is pretty good - usually balanced when it comes to City.

So as usual, when Liverpool lose it's down to their shite tactics and not praising the opposition.
Well, they must shittier than a shitty thing, this season...

Yup, there really is not much to debate: one way or another, it should have been disallowed.
No chance it gets disallowed if Klippety Klopp was still there. The officials would have been shitting themselves about him shouting in their face and complaining in the media - this is how they got so many decisions when he was there. Referees thinking about a marginal or subjective decision are bound to be influenced by how much shit they’ll get after. The Liverpool complaint to PGMOL, seemingly not Slot’s doing, is evidence of them trying to make sure these marginal subjective decisions going their way in the future

Wouldnt we be above by 2 goals ?

We are currently 4 points behind, Arsenal have 26, therefore 1 less would give them 25. We are on 22, so 2 extra points for the victory would have us on 24 points, leaving us 1 behind Arsenal.

It is also why they are hated by all other clubs' fans. They have now complained to PGMOL about the decision and Sky insists it is "not sour grapes". Prob good overall as they will be in denial over their inadequacies and the fact that we played them off the Etihad turf.

As if an endorsement from Sky has any credibility !

They whore themselves to rags/dippers like the cheapest girls on the street ( with apologies to the girls who are at least honest about their role )

Looking at the highlights, Salah was offside when he received the pass that led to the corner that led to the disallowed goal. Funny how nobody has mentioned this despite the goal being forensically dissected frame by frame. Should never have been a corner in the first place.
Or VVD who for some reason avoided 4-5 nailed on red cards last season, sarcastically clapped the referee and again avoided a caution for it. Guess they didnt write to the FA asking for why he avoids so many cards

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a media reaction like this constant fucking whining for 48 hrs. Just waiting for the rule change which normally happens when a decision goes in our favour
Laughable isnt it. Compare to the foul leading to the goal for Bournemouth recently, no coverage at all. Or the phantom foul on Alison the other season resulting in our goal being chalked off. Yet any decision, even correct ones, going against them and is 24/7 for weeks

According to that greasy 'Stockport fsn' Oliver Holt in yesterday's fail match report something similar was done by Brazil in the 1970 World Cup Final. I watched that game ( young person) and have no recollection tbh.
The Carlos Alberto goal against Italy in that final was a masterpiece - although it was at walking pace by then - but still a wonderful build up capped by Pele's nonchalant pass for the rampaging Alberto. I can't post the video here at work but it's easy to find out there.

Oh he did praise City but actually claimed the previous say three seasons ago City would have scored ten or more.
In a way saying we or City are also no where near our former glory, but we know that don't we.?

He's usually pretty complimentary about us to be fair. But as an ex-Liverpool player, of course he spends most of his time talking about them and their shortcomings. Him and Burley are pretty good overall and they don't hold back on any team. It doesn't matter who they are.
BTW, I played against Nicol in an over the hill indoor football league years ago when he was managing the NE Revolution. Still a dirty bastard. Personable guy though, even though he tried to kick me ten feet in the air...;)

Trying to find a highlights package that includes the full build up to the 1st goal when we had the ball deep in our left defensive corner and played it out superbly. Obviously not shown on MOTD or the Sky highlights.
It’s not even shown on City’s own extended highlights video. But I did find this:
