That clearance from Stones was nearly a goal, but the simple fact is, it wasnt. I thought the tackle on Aguero was far worse and Sterling should have had a penalty. We didn't get them and fortunately Taylor made the correct decision with Vinnies tackle.

That's exactly what it was!! Why the need to stop play, issue a yellow card and give the Dippers a free kick. It was interesting to see Salad's reaction. I thought it was typical of the fellah, get tackled, jump over the outstretched tackling leg, get the minimum contact and then start smacking the floor. There was probably more damage to his hand than there was to his foot. How Salad and Mané have the bloody cheek to go through the charade of the Fair Play Handshake takes some swallowing!

On a slightly more serious not, but only just, the two fouls on Aguero and Ferny that led to Salad having another dip were no different to what Taylor adjudged to be a booking for Vinny. In fact, I can't understand why Ferny didn't get it after he'd been floored. The difference on Wednesday was the number of times Dippers would go to ground in nigh on every tackle. It seems that going to ground ticks more boxes for a free kick than a straightforward nudge in the back or having yer shirt ripped off yer back! I'm back to refs and their institutionalised cheating!

Just commenting on your quote regarding the NBC pundits stating it was 'nearly' a penalty. It either is or it isnt, but as you say, all calls are subjective. Apart from those media hacks that were desperate for a Liverpool win.
The NBC pundits have said that it wasn't a Red.

But they've also said that, had Salah not jumped out of the way - and that Kompany made contact with him - it would almost certainly have been Red.

It was - IMO - and in the opinion of NBC pundits - damn near a Red.

Are you saying that the NBC pundits are hacks - desperate for a Liverpool win? Because if you are - this claim - is even more far-fetched than your claim that Kompany's challenge isn't a clear Yellow - and nearly a Red.

I don't watch NBC, so I've no idea what they think. What I do know is the vitriol and propaganda continually aimed against City from sections of the media in the UK and Europe is verging on the realms of insanity. A yellow was the correct call but it wasn't a dangerous tackle. The only disappointing outcome for me was Salah didn't dislocate his shoulder again.

I don't want to win against a weakened Liverpool. And I certainly don't want to win as a result of one of our players pulling a "Sergio Ramos" - injuring one or two of the opposition.

And... I don't wish any player harm under any circumstance - with the possible exception of Joey-fucking-Barton.

I'm not keen on the sanitisation of football, he went only for the ball, he got the ball, and it wasn't in the least bit dangerous to salah.

It wasn't a great tackle. He got the ball with his back leg. But Salah made a meal of the minimal contact to try and get him sent off. There's also the danger that if refs use cards to suppress all risk of injury occurring in a football match, cheats like Salah will have won but you'll take away all the excitement and lose the fans. They get paid millions a year, they should be prepared to suck up a reasonable amount of danger and count the money. Boxers do. Often for much less. How come Mane didn't get a card for flipping Danilo. He could have broken a collar bone. No mention of it. One of the sneakiest, worst fouls in football. Yet all we hear about is Kompany's tackle.

Salah had only himself to blame for the Ramos incident and if his repeated diving is the cause of a re-occurrence of his injury, I bet half of Merseyside and the rest of the country will be celebrating for weeks.

Apart from Allison, I think that was exactly the same team that got battered by Madrid, no one wants honest players suffering serious injury, but I doubt Real will lose very much sleep about any advantage they got from a serial cheater getting injured.
