I don’t understand why do many are low on confidence. Only because we lost Jesus, Sterling, Fernandinho, Zinchenko and Steffen? Not sure any of these would’ve started anyways.
The whole world wanted Haaland. We got him.
Alvarez will not frustrate in front of goal like Sterling has. And has the same workfare as Jesus.
Fernandinho the mighty yet aging master in midfield is replaced by an England international with praise and blessing from Bielsa to be perfect in a Pep team.
Zinchenko, my favorite LB, hardly played last year yet still a hero mostly off the pitch and with Cancelo doing wonders to keep Zinchenko out. Not replaced yet and hardly necessary as Cancelo is still there.
And finally Ortega replacing Steffen who made us look stupid vs dippers and had to be replaced only by that mistake. He is.
And we are allowed to expect great things from the upcoming academy talents who have won the league in every agegroup.
I’d say my confidence is as high as never before.
Now as for the game vs that lot from Klopp … oh dear …

Bingo needs more teeth whitener.
Really looking forward to this now. Not usually that bothered about the Charity Shield as it’s essentially just another pre-season friendly, but that fact it’s against Liverpool makes it more meaningful. Would be nice to make an early statement of intent.

Seriously, when does he expect the Community Shield to be played? For as long as I can remember it’s always been played the weekend before the league season starts. The last 25 years or so, it’s been played on a Sunday but presumably it’s being played on a Saturday this time to avoid a clash with the final of the women’s Euros. Playing it tomorrow rather than Sunday actually gives his players more time to prepare for their first league game so I don’t know why the fuck he’s moaning.
I think it’s just his default mode. He’s like a caricature of himself these days. Pretty illogical to complain about their season ending late and starting early - that’s just what happens when you’re competing at the top level. It’s always been that way.
