Liverpool pay City £1 million in "spy" settlement for hacking - biggest PL scandal

Just a thought. On a serious note.

Ric/MODS.

You need to be very careful with the clubs and names of people being mentioned and implicated on here.

People have been taken to court and sued for such things.

Obviously it's not me website/forum, so it's not my call, but I would suspend the thread and clean it up before......(f*** off jrb!)

Well said jrb, Ric has enough to worry about without being concerned about being sued for other people mentioning names etc.

If a club was proven to have committed this act then what would the punishment be ? I can't think of a situation that can be used as a comparison.

Would they be kicked out of the Premier League/Football league and have to start at the very bottom of the footballing pyramid?
Put it this way mate, Sheikh Mansour has a big interest in F1. I'm sure our top legal eagles would be able to put together a very good case.

McLaren have been excluded from the 2007 constructors’ championship and fined US$100 million following Thursday’s FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) hearing in Paris.

The penalty follows McLaren’s admission that the team was in breach of the International Sporting Code through their possession of confidential technical data belonging to rivals Ferrari, who are now all but assured of the 2007 constructors’ title.

I think the punishment will depend on which club it is.

If it is West Ham, Everton, Newcastle etc then McLaren will be used as a precedent and they will be quickly set such high fines that they will be almost immediately financially obliterated. Every football association will be in front of the cameras and milking it. Eventually we'd be seen as the villain in the eyes of all other fans..

If its United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs then no precedent will be the excuse for any punishment on the club and focused instead on individuals to face a criminal prosecution which will just waste public resources and drag on for years. Football authorities will say its all to do with the police and shut up shop.

Some clubs use other scouting software - as a separate system or an alternative source of information - e.g:
<a class="postlink" href="http://wyscout.com/clients/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://wyscout.com/clients/</a>

I suspect City are using ProScout7 & it's additional modules to store City specific scouting information, as well as the basic player information - which really isn't that clever - if stored in a common database accessed by many other clubs.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10034054/Liverpool-manager-Brendan-Rodgers-boosted-by-arrival-of-two-new-scouts-from-Manchester-City.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -City.html</a>

adopting a more collaborative approach to transfers. .... nicking other clubs files per chance?
And the Winner is!Liverpool FC.. IF its them Please take em to the cleaners city

Skash-It isn't exactly the pentagon though is it. It's football at the end of the day.
Players ahve been stolen from clubs for yrs now. Giggs is the prime example.
Next to cancer, AIDS, starving Africans, Syrian Civil War, and the Israeli occupation of the Palestinians, no, it's not at all important. Next to petty theft and speeding offences, yes, it is important. It needs to be investigated and those responsible criminally prosecuted.

Let's call it what it is, namely "industrial espionage" and run with that. This is a very serious matter and it is imperative that the club identify not only who/what is responsible for this, but also how it occurred, so that any lasting vulnerability is corrected. If this is traced back to a specific club (ManU(re) no doubt), then I think that club might face massive points deduction, Euro ban and/or large punitive fines from UEFA. It would also open the door to a civil lawsuit, and, as Skashion has noted, criminal prosecution.

Yep. I agree. The mods need to take this thread offline for a bit and clean it up.

As the ProScout7 application is hosted in Birmingham Science Park access to City information could have been made from anywhere. The individuals that have been named need to be removed. It really could be anyone who has hacked City specific information.

hahahahaha, if their toilets in the away are "classy" then city must be the Sheihks house

On a serious note it could be any team in the Premier League and not the clubs mentioned in the thread.
