Liverpool pay City £1 million in "spy" settlement for hacking - biggest PL scandal

Surely it was Man City who stole the info and are now trying to frame poor innocents?

Intellectual Property is huge as Gareth Bale is trying to protect his goal celebration will tell you.

Any information that City have on a player is vital and could be worth millions. If one of their scouts has spotted the new Messi and no-one else has it could be worth millions to the club and if someone has stolen that information then you can see why the club will take all steps to punish any offenders

United did not do this. doesnt matter how much you hate them we all must admit they still possess some morality and character.

I don't even know where to begin with this but here goes:

Depending upon when it happened, the chances of a points deduction for last season are remote, but I'll bet Dave Whelan would be interested...

Not unless it was written in the former scouts contracts that they weren't allowed to use the same scout 7 passwords that they used when working for the club. Infact, this is more embarrassing for the club's IT security, or complete lack of. When an employee leaves any company you take their phone, laptop, swipe cards and then cancel any passwords or logins for company websites. It's a fairly standard checklist that a 19 year old HR girl would complete after the exit interview.

The fact that these scouts joined Liverpool, but could still log in using their City accounts is ridiculous when you consider the millions of pounds at stake. There will be a record of them still logging in, but it would be impossible to prove that any of the info was actually shared.

So you have had a word with Ferran and you know that it was a simple as a scout using an old password?

No thought not.

It's industrial espionage so yes. There should be some fairly heavy sanctions from the FA/UEFA too, but I won't hold my breath on that one.
Theft of intellectual property for starters. If a club has been complicit by acting on the stolen information then that would be a further crime akin to receiving.

I'm no IT expert, but 'hacked' to me suggests the passwords were bypassed?

I suppose a little journalistic license was used for that headline. Can't really imagine Tom Cruise dangling from a wire in the server room at the Ethihad.

It´s more like a theatre..You need a ticket to get in unless you use a side entrance.
A side entrance that can be forced open by a hacker for instance.

This isn't common knowledge, but the Glazer lads are actually clones of Uncle Malcolm, not his biological sons.

The investigation by the club will be looking into a number of areas, and trying to determine the extent of the security breach. Dates times and just what data was accessed and if a password was used by whom. ( well whos username and password were used)

It will also be looking to accertain the location from where the hack ( or unauthorised access) took place.

Given this information they will then build the case and possibly pass information to the authorities, as they have far greater powers in terms of tracing internet traffic and identifying the original location of the Hack.

If the rumours are correct and it appears to indicate that its a PL team, then its a case of tracing the access back to a location that identifies where and possibly by whom the access originated. Ie Was it from a PL teams offices, or a persons home, or maybe even an open wifi in a coffee shop etc.
It doeant realy matter as they can all be traced, and then dependant upon the source location things could get very interesting indeed.

The data inside the system remains the IPR of the club, and even if they hadnt deactivated a password, that is no defence. If you are no longer in the employ of the club you no longer have any rights to access such information.
The I didnt know I wasnt allowed to use my old password defence just would not wash in any court.

if this was a PL club, they could be faced with allsorts of requested for data, includng database logs to show all updates of information and which users made the update etc. I realy hope that its not a PL club but a fool on his/her own as it realy could get very dirty indeed. especially if the data was acted upon and a move for a player was made off the back of it.

the worst case scenario does not bear thinking about, but I suspect the outcome will be a scapegoat being handed over and a slap on the wrists for the Club ( if it actually is one) if we ever even hear of the outcome...

if we suddenly buy Messi or Bale you might be tempted to make a guess!!
this in no way indicates that I suspect any club Obviously......
