Liverpool pay City £1 million in "spy" settlement for hacking - biggest PL scandal

If it's true then making it public is a bad idea

In the same way that the club does not tip the media off about its transfer targets, I sincerely doubt that City wanted the press to know this. If they did, there would be a news article about it, the same as City announced that they were investigating a hacking when Garry Cook's email to Onuoha's mother slipped out to the press 11 months after he sent it.

I'd say most likely, one of the consultants brought in to investigate the possible hacking boasted about it to a mate in the pub on Friday and it got out from there...

Maybe its just me, but what a load of bollox.

Why would another club need to "hack" city's scouting network (software) to see info about players, who we may be interested in, that are already top class players ? Did they "hack" SKYTV to see how good these players were ? I'm sure they could afford a subscription. Was it a shock that we were after the very top class players ?

Its not like any players will have been playing better secretly behind closed doors, just for our scouting network.

Daftest story yet imho.

Maybe try reading the article or have a little think for a minute about why it would be bad news???

-- Sun Jun 16, 2013 12:24 am --

I'm not suggesting it's deliberate by the club, but something has leaked and tipped off whoever did it.

Is this the Scouting Network that has just seen us spunk £30M on a Brazillian who has scored three Goals all Season in the Ukraine League instead of spending it sensibly on Thiago or Fabregas ?

It'd be the scouting network that can differentiate a player like Fernandinho to a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT style of midfielder like Thiago and Fabregas. Fernandinho being a fiercely combative and tenacious midfielder with box-to-box ability, something City badly needed after the Champions League shambles last year when neither Barry or Garcia could do the job, and something which neither Thiago or Fabregas are.

Written off before kicking a ball. Inisght like that is why people come here in their droves.

As for the price tag you quote, even if true (which I doubt) who cares.

Because City have the resourses to make comprehensiv evaluations on hundreds of players, thats why. Not many clubs in the world have the mony or the expertise to for such a network.

Not to mention that Citys' scouting reports would definitely include comprehensive analysis of exactly what bid to offer to the club and what to raise it to, as well as what to offer the player in their contract. It'd be like playing Football Manager. Know roughly what a rival club is bidding, and just slightly raise the offers to make yourself the more attractive transfer.

I have been on the Forum 5 years and not once have I ever slagged off a player for his performance or commitment ever or a Transfer signing until now.

I just have this real terrible feeling about this signing, and I got slagged of big time when I posted my feelings in the "Fernandhino" thread.

My evidence consists of no other major Club being in the slightest bit interested in him and the amount of posters latching on to the fact that he had a belting game against Chelsea.

All I can see is another Steve Daley.

I really hope though that it's me thats wrong !

As for the Skulldugery in question, my money is on either- Scum,Chavs,Spurs,Arsenal,Mickeys,Everton,Barca,Madrid,Milan or PSG.

(pretty sure I have spelt Skulldugery wrong)

First i apologise for my fucked up spelling in previous post. You are so right in what you say. Thats why this is damn serious and should be taken very seriously, this is cheating this is a crime this is so far away from sportmanship you can get, it just so imoral.

Well, the money is spent now and I'm pretty sure that Pellegrini is more than qualified to decide whether Fernandinho is good enough to make it into the matchday squad or should be left at the training ground. Best thing we can do right now is to get behind the players 100% and support them like they're a team of Messis. Being public about not liking a player can only hurt his self-belief and make your ideas a self-fulfilling prophesy. Not meaning any offence, just think we all need to be positive. There are lots on here who really like him.

By the way, it's "skullduggery". You missed a 'g'.
