Liverpool pay City £1 million in "spy" settlement for hacking - biggest PL scandal

Well one thing for sure is one of the premier league teams are gonna get sued beyond belief and probably have a transfer embargo as well as a PR nightmare on their hands before the new season starts.

Assuming the scout7 database is accessible over the internet, then all the investigators have to do is look at the logs and see who's been logging on. If they have been stupid enough to log in from a 'rival premiership teams' computer, then they'll be banged to rights. Not only a job for 'security specialists' but the police should be brought in to investigate. Questions should be asked if the individual had acted alone, or with the knowledge of their management.

Thought so, I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with them.

But why would Liverpool hack our scouting system when the two scouts will already have a lot of knowledge on who we are looking at? Surely if you are going to hack someone, you will hack a rival that you have little or no inside knowledge on. My bet is either Chelsea or Spurs.

My money would have been on Barca but isn't it being reported as a rival prem team?

Maybe its just me, but what a load of bollox.

Why would another club need to "hack" city's scouting network (software) to see info about players, who we may be interested in, that are already top class players ? Did they "hack" SKYTV to see how good these players were ? I'm sure they could afford a subscription. Was it a shock that we were after the very top class players ?

Its not like any players will have been playing better secretly behind closed doors, just for our scouting network.

Daftest story yet imho.

If a club was responsible for this or an ex city employee who now works at said current club something's gotta be done. I really hope this wasn't as severe as the articles make it out to be as it sounds like it was a massive breach and a major fuckup on our end as this shouldn't happen ever. Wouldn't be surprised if someone at city lost their job(s) for this
