Liverpool Post Match Thread

Anyone defending that today, should be subject to a fucking steward's enquiry.

It's the worst use or resources in all the years I've been watching City. We would be complaining about that, if Steve fucking Redmond & Vonk were playing.

It's almost pointless criticising individuals because they never stood a fucking chance.

A rag mate was watching that in the pub with some geezers from overseas who don't follow football. He said to them at half time that City could still win it, as they are the best team in the league. He's right, we are.

The manager chucked the fucking game. We are the best. He is in it for himself, like Mourinho.

His main consideration is himself.

These players can & maybe will win the league. When they do. Sack the ****.

There's lots of average players in the Liverpool squad but they fucked us over by playing as a well-drilled team, who could manage quick, accurate passing and clever running.
This is it PB. What I look for in a quality manager is the ability to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts. One example of this is Athletico Madrid, who attain success with a bunch of relative no names. Even locally you can see what Ranieri is achieving with Leicester. As far as we are concerned, by any measure we have the best players in the League, yet we seem to be playing as a team of individuals relying upon individual brilliance to achieve success.

Klopp has a bunch of players who, to be honest, are inferior to ours on a player for player basis. That's all well and good but football is a team game and you can see Klopp slowly turning them into a Dortmund. Meanwhile we seem to be erratically relying upon individual brilliance to get over the line.

As fans we should be expecting exactly what you said - quick, accurate passing and clever running. In addition as a minimum high energy off the ball. We were brutally exposed because we didn't do any of those things.

I have to confess I was in the Klopp for City camp when he became available. Watching him perform made me realise he would have been a perfect fit for City. Unfortunately that has passed us by. I can only pray that the Pep master plan comes off, otherwise the decision to bypass Klopp will look, with hindsight, very foolish.

I don't think there is a reason to be panicking. Bad performance? Yes, for sure. However I think this could be just the kick up the arse we need. Dippers outplayed us today. Faster, hungrier, drilled and up for the battle. But we can only get better. What do you want us to do? Run on the pitch like headless chickens or what? We have a style of play and when we click it will all fall back to place. Playing that bad and still 2 points of the top spot? This is no time to panic.

As for sacking Pelle? Now? Why the hell would we do that? To get who exactly as a replacement?
Ancelloti till the end of the season and Pep in the summer.Pellers has lost it!

I have said the same thing in other Post Match Threads - I wish MP would get off his backside and shout instructions THROUGHOUT the game. He should have been prowling his technical area after their first goal; jumping up and down after their second; and waving his arms around after the third. Instead he just sinks further and further into his seat trying to make himself invisible.

He is the answer!

First home game I've missed for a while, because of work and what a game to miss.
I got shown the team sheet beforehand and feared the worst seeing MDM picked before Ottamendi and Yaya protecting him. Who in the right mind sets up like that against a high pressing team. Its so obvious its embarrassing.
He is certainly an enigma our Pellers. He baffles me at times but he always remains calm and doesn't change his beliefs, (to his own detriment). We still remain in a healthy position in all competitions but we have been very fortunate in a number of games and also lucky to get the rub of the green against Borussia M and Seville at home. Our injuries are my biggest worry, how many times have Kompany, Silva and Aguero started together in the last few years? I would guess about 25% in the last 2 seasons. I just hope this serves as another wake up call like United away last season.
I'm sorry but I don't like chopping and changing managers but we need a change at the helm next summer. Its the missing link in our quest to be a dominant force. Pellers is a good manager but not an elite manager. When Klopp left Dortmond I wanted him more so than Guardiola. Guardiola or Carlo has to be a priority this summer.
Great post!

I agree we played shit today, but I enjoy finding positives where there seem to be none. Lots of fans (myself included) will wake up and read this forum with a cracking hangover and it will set the tone of their day. Here's what we should take from it blues.
Aguero will score no matter what. We truly have a world class striker on our hands. He wasn't even 100% today and he scored that goal. Wow.
Delph still looks a bargain at 8m. Him and dinho were the best players on the pitch for that last 45.
KDB has shown that when he's on, he's really on. On another day he sets up 3/4 just playing the way he did and he will one day be alongside neymar and bale for the ballondor.
Liverpool will finish 4th (no matter what they say.) Leicester will drop off and united are just getting lucky. It's us and arsenal all the way.
Silva will only improve us. Can't be long till we decide the pain is gone enough and he plays. I'm excited for it.
And lastly. Dinho is the most underrated player in the world, that's all really.
No matter what you feel, fighting for the league, looking to win the COC and qualified for the last 16 of the champions league at the same speed as real fucking Madrid. 10 years ago we wouldn't have dreamed it yet according to half of you it's no where near good enough... Calm down and enjoy our football. There's a reason pep always praises manuel, because he doesn't use this forum ;)

The supposed dream forward line is costing us, the fact is our game craft under pellegrini is costing us, time and time again sterling and de bruyne lose the ball in wrong areas and it takes half the team out of the game, and allows the opposition the freedom of the pitch to hurt us. Demechellis and Mangala was horrendous, just press them and they give the ball away and then get drawn to the ball and allow acres in behind them. The changes at half time were abysmal and killed any chance we had of getting back in the game, tge fact is the only player available who can control the game for us was subbed in ya ya, who strangely gets all the flak when the truth is pellegrini hung him out to dry again. The second half was equally as bad for me, and highlighted pellegrinis weaknesses, we looked like a team just thrown together, no structure, no game plan and no system. To be so dependant on silva is criminal, but for pellegrini to set us up like that, and then game manage us like he did tells me is time is up, so far behind klopp it was frightening

Big games find him out far more often than not however there is am issue with the players above the shoulders that gets found out too often for us to be considered an elite team.

You could argue that its MP's responsibility to get that right but I think it wouldn't matter who we had in charge these inept performances will continue to undermine some of the teasing this group continues to deliver that they can overcome difficult situations mostly created by themselves mind you.

Too few players with the right mentality when pressure is applied.

Honestly I don't know whether to take you seriously or not... You seem to just be one of those "pellegrini out!!!! How dare he not dominate every game, the Internet said our team is the best in England so he must dominate every game!!!!!!!" Morons

What utter bollcks. Del Bosque, Jupp Heynckes, Marcello Lippi, some the best managers of all times were never seen jumping around the technical areas. I can understand criticism of his tactics but this is just childish and petulant.

Did you watch the game? , did you see the line up?, have you not seen the same mistakes being made?, did you not notice despite being torn a new one he stood and let it happen?, thats 3 defeats at home in all comps already, heading the same way as last season, where bizarre team selections cost us in all competitions. I dont judge us on the fact we played in the old division 3 a few years ago, i judge us on the fact we have spent a huge amount on players and at times resemble a team that has just met, if you think that was good enough, then please yourself, i expect much more

I really cannot believe that we are resting players for the Champions league games especially with a quality well-drilled side like Liverpool with Klopp at the helm coming to town.

Does anybody honestly believe we can win the Champions league?OK we may get an easier draw by finishing top but with Arsenal losing, this game was of more realistic importance.

OK then, if he has to rest players, then do so which I don't agree with but don't leave out Otamendi and Fernandinho. That decision alone was absolutely suicidal.

He has form for selecting the wrong team for the wrong game, very strange priorities

Just popped over to Paris for a few days and couldn't believe it when I saw the score last night.

What team started I'd love to know so I can try and reason for this ridiculous score line.

Clear we need another good striker though.
