Liverpool - post match thread.

Given the staggering amount of money spent over the past few years, it's so depressing to see Navas as the first person we turn to on the bench to try and get us back into the game. I'd rather have Sancho on the bench, at least he might offer us something slightly different.

That was a little sad and depressing in footballing terms.

Hasn't scored in 18 months or so in the league and Pep gave him 9 minutes. including injury time. I do like the bloke, works hard, never gives up but he isn't the answer when we need a bit of inspiration.

Iheanacho I thought would have been the better option - but he got all of 6 minutes including injury time.

A few over reactions against the manager. Klopp's first season as Liverpool manager was dire because he needed to shape the squad and Pep needs the same. We outplayed them second half but couldn't finish off. Aguero in a bad run of form and Kolarov was utterly dire.

I'll only be disappointed with Pep if we don't buy this window. We need full backs. We can't continue with Kolarov there and expect anything against decent opposition and If he keeps saying he's happy with the squad he has then I'll be starting to question his sanity.

No tall Dzeko like striker option isn't helping either but who's available?

I've been a member for a while, but I've never posted before. We haven't been nearly as poor as some of you suggest. The way Pep set up the team neutralised Liverpool’s pressing and counterattack - they created literally nothing, apart from the goal. When was the last time Liverpool had 5 shots in total – at home? Or was it Klopp’s master-tactician who was sitting deep and waited for our mistakes? In Lawro’s wet dream,. maybe. As I’ve seen it today, he’s done again his part of the deal – he set us up to be able to efficiently move into the last third of the pitch, as Henry once said – but it was the players who did not do their part and failed individually to do anything from there. Full-stop.

Burnley on Monday, a nice win to start 2017 on a right track, with Pep good times are ahead. Onwards and upwards! Happy New Year to every Blue Brother.

Couldn't agree more, the players are to blame for tonight's performance

Think today sums up the season so far. Our defence is a piss take and still can't understand why we haven't invested in the full back position over the last few transfer windows.

Was hopeful that Pep would deliver the PL in his first year, but obviously not going to happen.

I still think that over the course of his contract with us he'll win things, not sure what, but he'll bring us a trophy or two I reckon.

Let's hope for a better 2017 for the boys in blue.

Don't hold your breath

Surely the last and final word is the managers?

He wasn't here when Raheem and Kev were signed.

Incidentally Raheem has improved (after having his ego stroked pro Euro) and Kev has regressed.

Kevs body language is nowhere near the level of last year- is that new tactics or his role being left right but fucking centre?
