Liverpool - post match thread.

Neither team showed the slightest reason that they should be contesting for top spot. Passing was atrocious, and only Sterling seemed to be prepared to put in a shift for the whole game.

Most frustrating things for me today were:

1. Once again, high possession and passing stats yet hardly any shots on goal.
2. The way we can turn a supposed advantagious situation into a disadvantage. We win free kicks near the halway line and rather than making life difficult for the opposition, we send the ball sideways, sideways again and then backwards towards our own goal, thereby giving the opposition bags of time to reorganise. I'm beginning to hate us winning free kicks as we more often than not end up in a weaker position.
3. Failing to take advantage of a Pool side that looked really ordinary today.

Garbage. The defence is a shambles. Kolarov, Otamendi and the clown in goal should not be at the club

You can't expect to get a result at a place like Anfield when KDB, Aguero and Yaya don't even get off the coach

Sorry to say but Pep is the right man at the wrong time. He's only here for 3 seasons and that is nowhere near enough time to build the team he wants
The shambolic defence who restricted Liverpool to one shot on target, at anfield? Kolarov is a shambolic footballer and as long as he plays we'll have a weakness......I agree we looked toothless going forward, this was as much to do with Liverpool setting up like a relegation team though. We're at a junction at present, the style of football is on the cusp. On or two new arrivals and these days will be a distant memory.

Liverpool did not play that well and did not have to, quite honestly we are entitled to feel disappointed with how it has gone since Pep arrived, 10 points off the top spot and now back in a fight for a top 4 finish....after the start we had, with the supposed best manager in the world arriving and £150m sent in the summer? I could make myself look like the big sensible/reasoned City fan here and go down the "we're just building" route but honestly, I don't feel like that at all at the moment.
That performance today was really rather insipid, we created very little up front, Sterling to me looked like someone who had an agenda today, tried to show the Kop what they were missing and placed that above trying to help his team, the amount of times he took the flashy option today, trying to beat another defender instead of getting the ball in the box.
Disappointing from KDB, Sterling, Toure, Kun, Fernandinho.....good from Stones, Otamendi (mostly), Silva worked very hard in the 2nd half. Too many of our supposed big players are only turning in big performances every 3/4 games these days.
Crap end to a pretty poor year.

Well said totally agree im trying to keep positive but its hard to see how this improvement will come for a good while yet 5 or 6 players at least is needed for that to happen, and god forgive me for saying this but Sergio seems to have really lost a yard maybe its a lack of sharpness due to suspension but i thought he would be fresh and bouncing today

Absolutely awful.

Title went as soon as KDB brain farted against Chelsea.

Dull football, bad defending and bad management.

The worst part is that we wasted 3 years for this dross.

PEP is a complete myth.

Best players are still those of 2012. To think Mancini was ousted with the long term plan of this guff. Truly shocking.

We are half a season in now and I have to say out of the teams that replaced their managers in the summer (United, Chelsea) we are the only team playing in last seasons style. Having said that I actually think we are worse considering that at least last season we looked like scoring.

I'm not getting Pep and this tippy tappy bollocks. Pass, pass, pass and yet we create fuck all. Sagna is our best right back but he picks zaba whose legs have gone. Clichy is our best left back but he picks that waste of space kolarov.

We have signed a goal keeper that not only wastes an overseas player spot, but is a significant downgrade. Our midfield is slow and lumbersome and his substitutions were a disgrace. Kelechi getting 4 minutes just wasn't right, especially when players like KDB and Aguero certainly weren't putting a shift in.

This Jesus better be decent cos that was shite. Sorry but given investment and team inherited third isn't acceptable. Look at Conte. He inherited a squad in disarray!

OK Pep are you man enough to admit this isn't working ?
TBF look what he's got to work with. Apart from KDB,Aguero,Fern and Silv there rest are just average players. He must be surprised at how poor the squad is.

We just don't have any natural aggression in the side. Said it loads of times and i'll say it again. Since we lost Tevez and De Jong we have not had anyone with a set of Nads. Were like the local church team fannying about the park. Definately gone backwards since Mancini and I couldn't care fucking less who disagrees either!!

In that case the DoF is to blame, buying spineless average players for the past 2 full seasons not including this one.

But heh, he's brought Pep in.

Unquestionably the transfer policy over the last few years has been appalling. The squad has no balance and looks completeky unprepared for a Premiership season.

I did think Pep would have done better but I can only think he is amazed as us at the lack of fight/passion/desire within the team. I cannot even get any satisfaction about the second half as Pool started to sit back and invited us to try and break them down. The response was literally nothing

Liverpool played 'English' football tonight ?

That's what Klopp does ?

Bollocks.

High energy, full of pace, direct? Yep, sounds about right.

When Liverpool win the ball, they get the ball forward so quickly. Not in the Allardyce/Pulis way, they keep the ball on the ground, but they're so direct. Very positive and constantly looking forward in possession. Two passes and they're in behind your defence.
