It’s actually ok for a day out and some good boozers. Ignore the tossers on here who’ve never been but slag it off because of a football team. Don’t go on Monday like I did as the museums close (world, Liverpool and maritime). Went to world museum a previous time and that was good. Got 2 cathedrals worth a visit plus Albert Dock for bars and restaurants and Tate Gallery (I didn’t enjoy that - too much weird ‘art’). Good boozer for choice of ales is Ship and Mitre by World museum although it’s a bit of an old dump. Bold Street seemed to be the trendy place to socialise. Had a nice meal in a seafood restaurant - https://aquapodliverpool.co.uk/.
a lot of places were queuing out of the door on a winter Monday teatime when we went

I’d agree and add to that, the Philharmonic can have some decent shows on there. In fact that area, between the cathedrals up away from the docks also had some great bars and places to eat too. Ferry trips decent too depending on the weather.

The world museum is fantastic. The round trip ferry is good and it has a german u-boat at one of the stops. The riverfront is worth a visit. The city centre is nice and I hear the Liverpool One shopping centre is really good, although I've not been. Speke hall, near the airport, is a nice National Trust property. You can also go on a Beatles homes tour from there but I think you have to book first. The philamonic hall is meant to be great and Liverpool Empire is a nice theatre. The Catholic Church 'Paddy's Wigwam' is a unique building if youre into thay sort of thing.

My Brother in law is a dipper and dragged me to look at their museum. Even though I felt dirty the whole time, the 5 Champions League/European Cup trophies, lines up in a row is bloody impressive.

We went for a few hours a few weeks ago.

The Anglican cathedral is fantastic. Having been to a few major cathedrals in Europe, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this, and bizarrely, you can have panini and chips right in the middle of the space!

St John’s Beacon (Radio City Tower) has some fantastic views.

Did the museum of Liverpool a few years ago. Free to get in and quite interesting.
