Liverpool are the gift that keeps giving, it's hilarious to watch what goes on over there.

I think they have taken the comedy club baton from us with admirable gusto.

For Peter Swales substitute, John W Henry. For Alan Ball substitute King Kenny.

In Rafa We Trust, Suarezgate, their decrepit old stadium, the absurdly mawkish fans - I could go on.

It's a wonderful cocktail for farce.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

When someone such as Rodgers declines even the opportunity to discuss a role, even Liverpool fans must surely question how far they have slipped.

Sadly, it is impossible for me to conceive of that. They are too big I'm afraid. Liverpool are in serious danger of spiraling down like we did. Can't ever see united doing that, I'm afraid.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

I've only just seen this and came here to check you knew about it.

Wow, they really have surpassed us - I haven't laughed as much as I have at interviewluissuarez on Wed and lfc fun today since, ooooh - possibly Sunday to Tues at Man U fans reactions.

What's happening with the world - soon City fans will stop being miserable and bitter ;-)

Yup.

We could always snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We had the cup for cock-ups sewn up in August. We would shut our eyes to the uselessness of our shite players.

Thing is Liverpool FC we will happily pass you the 'comedy club' mantle to your goodselves but the first and most important requirement is that you can handle the pressure. Uh and gallows humour helps.

But with scousers and your worldwide reputation as the funniest people in all of Merseyside it will be a walk in the park la.

AVB is the only choice they can make that suggests they are looking to the future. He needs another chance as much as Liverpool need a fresh start . Any other choice looks doomed to failure. Benitez is a backward looking step like KD was... Martinez is Wigan manager FFS. The management have run scared of supporters and the clubs history. If they continue to do so then they will be in terminal decline.
Speaks volumes that Rodgers does not want to talk to them. I like Martinez a lot. Good pals with Mancini and a future big time manager ( if brian Kidd goes this summer then we should try and get him in ) if he goes to Liverpool they will do a Roy H on him. Not good. Liverpool are classic example of living in the past.

It has also been said that Italy won't go tits up, like Greece, soon to be Spain and Portugal but it will. All that needs to happen could start happening as early as next season, if, as we all hope, the Rags win nothing again and end up around 4th or worse. Their foreign support will start to dwindle far more rapidly than you think and their present business model, which is at present supporting a £250,000 a day debt repayment will look very shaky indeed. However, regarding the 'pool, they could very easily do a Leeds and the yanks, who thought they had bought an iconic club they could rape, have already blown a mint thanks to King Kenneth's disastrous forays into the transfer market.
These same yanks are finding out that the Premier League is a fucking expensive train set, not a source of easy money to dip into at will and they could well pull the plug and do one.

We have previously had that debate about Italy which although still unresolved, I will concede is very much leaning more towards your prediction than mine.

Once again we have to thank our lucky stars with the owners we have. Hicks and Gillette, Lerner, John W Henry are all examples of wide Yanks who come over here thinking that we're all fucking simple and that running a Premier League club will be a piece of piss. It remains to be seen whether the Glazers will join them and I genuinely hope that you're right in that regard.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

What the scousers have failed to realise is that American owners are unlike anyone else. The last two clowns that they eventually got rid of after virtually threatening them if they didn't, were after a revenue source, the same as their present incumbents. Americans are, through and through businessmen, probably the best on earth but they have made a catastrophic blunder in venturing into the PL and it doesn't work like the psuedo commie system in America, where bottom teams get a leg up by aquiring top team players; get this wrong and it's goodnight Vienna.
Liverpool now have a look of desperation about them that doesn't bode well, it looks like the new manager will get a budget of around £30mill, and whoever he is , if he pisses that up the wall if could be curtains.
