The new spending won't show in the Profit & Loss Account though. You only report any profit or loss on the sale of players. The Fat el Hombre said:But they spent the torres money staright away on Suarez and carroll PB?
You're right that they will not expense the purchase cost of Suarez & Carroll, but they will put an amortisation charge on both of them through P&L- back of the envelope suggests a book value for the pair of them of £58m, so you're looking at an amortisation charge of £12-14m per annum.Prestwich_Blue said:The new spending won't show in the Profit & Loss Account though. That's why it makes more sense to loan out Tevez this financial year and sell him next. There's enough provisions in FFPR to see us through this year but a nice profit on his sale in next year's accounts will help us for about three years.
They are. They've staked everything on achieving that and it could all come crashing down if they don't. The rags finances mean that they would struggle if they were out of the CL for two consecutive seasons and it will be three for Liverpool if they don't make it this time.

-- Thu Aug 04, 2011 11:45 am --

Ntini77 said:They're up shit creek if they don't finish top 4 this season.
Torres came to them in 2007 so will have been almost fully amortised when they sold him. So they'll show something like £45m profit on sale, which still gives them a nice surplus, even taking the amortisation on Carroll and Suarez into account, which will only be a half-year in those accounts.Braggster said:You're right that they will not expense the purchase cost of Suarez & Carroll, but they will put an amortisation charge on both of them through P&L- back of the envelope suggests a book value for the pair of them of £58m, so you're looking at an amortisation charge of £12-14m per annum.Prestwich_Blue said:The new spending won't show in the Profit & Loss Account though. However the accounts for this fnancial year will be horrendous as it will include a full year for those two plus another £10m or more on the other new signings, plus their wages.
This baffles me as well. Adam is nowhere near Mereiles in any department. Watch out for Kenny's next wobbler around January.MCFC-alan88 said:It's insane that they're practically pushing Mereiles(sp?) out in favour of Adam. He was their best player after Suarez last season.
