Quite ironic them whining about Clattenburg; the ref who handed them a Merseyside derby on a silver platter a few seasons ago.

Last few seconds of that game saw Carragher haul Lescott to the ground in the Liverpool area. No penalty. What goes around comes around.

I like him and in spite of how annoying I find Liverpool fans blind loyalty towards him, I would not want to see him leave there in humilating circumstances as I believe he is a decent and fair man.

As to whether he will, I suspect not. Think they'll compete for fourth with Arsenal and Spurs pretty evenly throughout the season.

Which, by the way, will be their level now for the foreseeable.

Is this another case of threads being merged or something?
I thought I was losing it yesterday with cricket on the Garry Cook thread. Now it's Wigan on the dippers thread. Seriously, what the fuck do Wigan have to do with all this?

No problem with fans who support their club but a club that can only get 700-800 to a non-televised 3pm Saturday game a few miles down the road at £26 a pop doesn't deserve Premiership football.

Simple as that. They've only got there thanks to Whelan's money, not their amazing support.

When a Rag says to you "when a club can't sell-out their small ground (for Chmapions League standards) in their first Champions League game when tickets are only £25 at the highest price, they don't deserve Champions League football. They've only got there through the Sheikh's money!" what would you say to them?!

I'd say the reason Sheik Mansour has sunk his money into the club is due to the incredible loyalty of its fanbase. I'd then say how many cockneys would turn up at hole trafford if they spent the next 35 years trophy-less yo-yo-ing up and down the leagues. I'd then point out that at least we don't have to bus in 40 thousand non-Mancunians in to fill our stadium. What would you say? (I agree with your general point, by the way.)

Had a read of rawk yesterday and was pissing myself, it's comedy gold. The grass was too long and they thoroughly dominated and should have won 6 nil apparently. I love that site

I respect him for being able to come in there and turn the mentality of the club around and put some fight in them, and doing it by also giving a chance to a handul of academy players. Not going to win any trophies like that though.

I hope he continues to spend stupid money on crap players in Jan and he lasts the full year.

Then when he quits,partnered with the fact that they have had the advantage of a lack of midweek football,will we have a good laugh at them as Stoke and Spuds sit above them and they have no excuse whatsoever other than the fact they are a scummy club.
