Seems they've announced that Suarez must make a formal, written transfer request if he wants to leave. Nice to see the owners are being consistent with trying to make a fan base angry at any outgoing personnel with all their teams. They do this with the Boston baseball team every time, too.

If he hands in a request he forgoes any loyalty payments, if he does not and they sell him then they have to pay all payments to the end of his contract. (a rule apparently for all professional contracts)

That is why they will have asked for the written request, will probably save them a few quid.
I know. I think that's a factor, too, but if you pay attention to how their ownership group operates, you will see the pattern. Whenever anyone is leaving, they get trashed by "leaks" to the press and suddenly they're to blame for everything since the Mongol invasion.

Perhaps the fans will persuade him to stay. As with "StevieG" the fans have showed their powers of persuasion before.

Can't believe that with all this shit going on they can't even talk about it on RAWK - why have a forum?

@Castiel

I looked through your forum and noticed a thread about Joe Cole on there, it was about him saying Liverpool being a big club with massive history etc etc. I noticed Sturridge did it too. That thread on your forum opened my eyes on Liverpool when Cole leaked that Liverpool request you to play up to the historians. Really, really small time for a genuinely big club. How the mighty have fallen aye?

It is small time, Nip, but if I was joining Liverpool I'd do exactly the same whether the club requested me to or not.

You've got to know your audience.

It pissed a lot of us off to be honest but turned into a bit of a joke with some of the comments coming out. It all comes across as desperate and a bit pathetic and it's not even just the deluded fans. The club itself seems to be just as bad. Look at how Suarez has been handled as a recent example.

It doesn't surprise me at all that they make a point of getting players to pander to "history" because it's all they've got left as a selling point. Their owners are only interested in keeping the brand going. The sense of entitlement is unfortunately one of the drawbacks of success. United fans are a given. Chelsea has only had great success over the last decade and we've got a load of entitled fans already. Take it all away and I guess you become Liverpool.

The club handling Suarez badly is anything but a recent manifestation.

The whole Evra situation was dealt with in an appalling fashion. Those t-shirts, before any investigation had taken place, were hopelessly naive and totally lacking in judgment.

I got a sense from FSG that they felt that coming over here and turning LFC around was going to be a straightforward task for them with all their Stateside street-savvy and commercial acumen. I think they are now coming to terms with the size of the undertaking that they have committed to.

Whatever way you dress it up, that club is now poorly run imo. Ayre is out of his depth and as an organisation they seem to be constantly hampered by poor decision making at the very top. Does anyone have a 100% confidence that the enduring stadium situation is going to be resolved any time soon?

Their commercial revenues have held up well and that is testament to their standing in the game, but that is not a state of affairs that can continue indefinitely.

If things get any worse united might even have to start admitting that it isn't their biggest game any more. Then we will know Liverpool really are fucked!

The Evra situation was cleared up on the day of the incident. It's in the fa report when it kicked off after the match and the allegations were made Suarez confirmed to kyut in Dutch and camoli in Spanish what he had said both basically confirming evra's version they then later back tracked and bullshitted the rest of the investigation. It really is shocking reading and doesn't put Liverpool in a good light at all

The owners don't care about the club. They care about selling merchandise. The leverage they have is "history." They'll use that to maneuver the fans however they can.
