Re: Rodgers Blames The Offside Decision At The Etihad

Rodgers: Ref error at Etihad could define season

When asked how crucial Steven Gerrard's slip was, the Liverpool boss preferred to talk about Lee Mason's performance when they played City

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has suggested a refereeing error could cost his team the title.

Steven Gerrard's slip against Chelsea that allowed Jose Mourinho's men to win at Anfield and hand the initiative in the title race back to Manchester City was seen as pivotal in the title race.

Since then songs about the Merseyside midfielder have been heard at various grounds alluding to the crucial mistake.

But when asked how important it was, Rodgers instead chose to highlight a moment in Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to City in DECEMBER.

"When someone of that greatness and ability, it's just unfortunate what happened to him, but it could have happened to anyone," he said.

"It would be more unfortunate if the decision at Man City, when I got fined £8,000, might define the season. The offside. I was the guy who never speaks about referees. Sterling is clearly onside and in on goal. If we get a goal then …

"It's the only time in my life I've been fined. I knew at that time it might be significant. So that might define our season. It won't be Stevie's slip.

Rodgers was fined for questioning Bolton referee Lee Mason's credentials, suggesting that officials from Greater Manchester should not be allowed to take charge of City or United games.

FFS Brenda, give it a rest.

If it's not the money, playing against the most expensive sports team in the World, it's now referring decisions.

That aside, you forgot to mention the 2nd yellow Suarez should have got for diving at Anfield, the handball from Skirtel at the end of the game, and the penalty that wasn't given against Dzeko. You also forgot to mention the numerous penalties Liverpool have been given this season, which weren't, etc.

But yes Brenda, if Liverpool do go on to lose the title, it's everyone else's fault, apart from yours.

Just like 'Arry Catflap!

Watch him when he talks he always stops to put saliva in his mouth as his dentures are drying his fat wanking rent a gob out.

Rodgers is a decent enough bloke, but i think as this season has went on,and Liverpool being in contention for the title has thrust Rodgers further into the limelight and he's loving the attention that he gets from the media.Whatever happens today regardless he will be under more scrutiny next season, add to that champions league and the expectation of winning something will be his downfall,as when push comes to shove under any significant pressure Rodgers cant hack it.....

Dear Brenda,

Yes that offside decision was a big call but you seem to forget that if you had played Chelsea at their own game instead of all out attack you would have got the one point you needed to stay in pole position.
You also forget that when you went THREE nil up against Palace you were in an excellent position to put pressure on City.
It is not the linesman or the referees fault that you are a shit tactician and haven't got a clue how to change from Plan A.

You are on par with Mr Moyes whose team spent a whole game lobbing crosses into the box even though no Rag was heading them. You are a poor one dimensional manager, end of.

I used to admire Rodgers for the job he did at Swansea and i know Mancini tried to get him as his assistant. He has done a good job at Liverpool too but he has lost all credibility amongst every fan,not just us,for the utter bollocks he has spouted all season.

Everything is everyone else's fault except him.He whipped the Mickey's into a frenzy,[not that they need much help for that] with his ''Unleash the crowd'' statement leading to the disgraceful scenes seen against us and Chelsea not to mention their self righteous mawkish behaviour.

He hawks on about money as if they have never spent a penny in their lives. He complains about decisions going back months and conveniantly forgets all the dubious ones that have gone in their favour.

He is a horrible self righteous smug little **** of the highest order and i sincerely hope it all unravels for him and the dippers in the next few years, who lest we forget were thick in the mire to kick start this stitch up fair play shite!

Blobdgers now saying Liverpool lost the title because of the bad offside decision in December

He's a total embarrassment. Fits Liverpool like a glove.

I notice he didn't mention the bad refereeing decision(s) that allowed the diving vampire to remain on the pitch in our meeting at Klanfield.

Very strange, that!

Or Skrtel's superb punched clearance in the same game.

Or Skrtel's constant holding of opposition defenders that was not once picked up by refs who expected it,new it was coming but never gave it..

You forgot sanctimonious. That's the adjective that best suits them, for me. Otherwise, good summation.

Ha f*cking ha f*cking ha!

Did we cry into hands when this happened to Vinny? No of course we didn't - this was the only reason Liverpool had a league winning chance to throw away against Chelsea!
