Brendan Rodgers has identified formation changes and the “weight of the jersey” on Liverpool’s summer signings as the causes of the team’s early troubles, conceding he must find a settled system to rectify the problem. Liverpool host Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday with the manager considering debuts for the 17-year-olds Jordan Rossiter and Sheyi Ojo while he rests Steven Gerrard from a midfield hit by injury. Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho could join Joe Allen and Emre Can on the sidelines with respective hip and groin problems with the Merseyside derby against Everton awaiting on Saturday.

Weight of the shirt, Rodgers really is David Brents ugly brother.
He fucking loves his metaphors does our Brenton.
Emlyn Hughes blamed the weight of their shirts for the dippers losing to Arsenal in the 1971 cup-final.

What a weird season. We're pretty shit, but somehow the Rags, Spurs, and Everton are just as shitty.

We four are so underwhelming, that Arsenal--who are still soft as butter and also don't know how to defend, still look like comfortably finishing third on current form. With the caveat that Arsenal have to survive their usual January-February collapse.

Storyline of the season might be "Does anyone want fourth place?"

I can see lowest points in a while for 4th..possibly 3rd too.
This is what I was thinking, you all seem equally bad. I can see us and Chelsea racking up 90 points and the rest on 65-70ish.

Playing Raheem Sterling for 120 minutes against a Championship team a few days before playing Everton.

Brendan Rodgers logic.

He's going to have fun managing rotation with the Champions league then. Bet he secretly wished they'd dropped out last night so he doesn't have so much to concentrate on.

Didn't they win the trophy on Tuesday? My mistake.

He will be sacked within 18 months.
Gone in the summer if he doesn't make it to top four after spending £130m. He was almost sacked after 2012/13 season when he finished seventh.
