Last season was almost perfect for them. They only had the league to concentrate on,Sturridge stayed fairly injury free,Sterling was a revelation and Suarez was on fire, almost everything he hit ended up in the back of the net. They took teams by suprise and were galvanized by the 25th anniversary.......and still they failed.

Like the rags they have spunked a load of money on a lot of players and are hoping it all falls into place, like a scattergun approach. It will be interesting to see what happens but it isn't looking too good so far.

Gone in the summer if he doesn't make it to top four after spending £130m. He was almost sacked after 2012/13 season when he finished seventh.

i also think he will be gone next summer.the owners will not gamble anymore lolly on brenda.

I'd like to be persuaded of that.

Exactly the same criticism has been made of us about our transfer dealings for the last few years. We have all known that the overall objective was to obtain 2 world class players for every position. Few others appreciated that, because few others took the trouble to find out, and in their ignorance simply said our policy was 'buy anyone as though you were a kid in a sweetshop'. Nowadays, of course, we have (pretty much) two world class players for each position and so the policy has proved its own worth - and hey presto, the cockroaches have twigged.

I have no idea what overall objective lies beneath the dippers' transfer dealings, but then again I haven't ever bothered to try and find out. It may be that very little thought at all has gone into it, but I'd be surprised: there is probably some thought behind it even if it isn't obvious to us what it is. I don't want to assume, through ignorance, that in fact no proper thought has gone into it at all.

As Barry Davies said all those years ago; ''interesting, very interesting!''.

Well we all knew this was a risk, despite the media bullshit about their "shoestring" team. But honesty, I don't expect it to be an issue for them, because I think a lot of these losses are down to the stadium and sorting out the mess left by the previous directors.
