On the question of "Istree" what does anyone know about the Mickeys before they got Shankley ( who was far to similar to Don Revie and Harry Redknapp for my liking) and the Moores family ?
I know that they had a player called Billy Liddell who good judges reckon is one of the best that has ever come from Scotland and recently I found out through an article in Toma's "Daisy Cutter" that in the 1910's or 1920's they had this keeper; I can't for the life of me remember his name but this bloke is regarded as the father of modern goalkeeping. Apparently he was the first to narrow angles, throw the ball out short, use his voice to control the defenders and shit like that. Like most of the stuff in the Cutter (apart from mine) it really was an excellent piece.
You speak to a Mickey and they associate "Istree" with Trophy's. Football is so much richer and about far,far more than winning something. It's about what you go through and what you have to put up with.
Their isn't one Mickey or Norwegian who has had anywhere near enough suffering for my liking.
