Will it cover him agreeing to go to Chelsea or him beating an innocent man up?

I want to hear about that gangster and his missus.

From a Liverpool perspective getting rid of Stevie will be largely a financial decision. When your highest earner ceases to be your most productive worker things have to change. Liverpool have brought in several new players who must all be earning decent money, Sturridge took their pants down (nothing new there), now 'Young Sterling's' mummy looks set to do the same thing and Jordan Henderson thinks he's the new Bobby Moore and should be paid accordingly. Their wage bill must have reached a level where it's causing them concerns and losing Stevie's 6 million, or whatever, will help on that front, particularly if his performances aren't what they were.

Did Henderson do or say something to give that impression?

Sterling's salary is market value if you think about it--for better or worse that's how the game is now. Plus in the situation we are we need to be locking in our best players. What it also means is if/when he leaves it'll be for a big fee. Not just for Sterling, but I don't know why fans get on football players on salary stuff, I tend to stay away from that. Like me and you don't try to maximize our financial returns in our endeavors?

Meanwhile now that the transfer window is open, Berahino rumors are coming in hard (please no, just no). Origi's loan will apparently be cut short (Rodgers says a lot of stuff then does the opposite :) ) and I worry that he'll be expected to "save our season" with Sturridge (who probably won't even be given the opportunity to get match fit). Origi I like, but he is one who should be given time and coached--not overplayed and starting every game.

Also linked to Shaqiri which would be another pointless signing given that AMs are arguably our deepest position. If we're truly in for him, what's the transfer committee getting at?

Liverpool have handled Gerrard badly, which I feel kind of played a role in him wanting to leave. I've said it before, but I just cannot understand this obsession Hodgson, Rodgers, and many in the media have, of turning Gerrard into Pirlo, or some kind of defensive playmaker. This is all based on Gerrard's mythical "hollywood balls", where 1 in 20 hail mary passes find their target, and they're shown over and over again on TV, especially if it leads to a goal. They don't show all the others which go out of play. I've seen Milner and Yaya hit those kind of balls occasionally, but you'll never hear anyone saying that Milner or Yaya should become the new Pirlo when they reach 34. Its also a big simplification of Pirlo. I doubt most of the pundits who go on about "Gerrard is the new Pirlo" have seen the guy play. Pirlo is one of the most intelligent midfielders in the game, he can dictate play, change the tempo when necessary, England played two matches against him in 2 years, and he tactically outsmarted them in both, especially in the World Cup. His game doesn't consist of just sitting in his own half, and whacking long hopeful balls forward. Gerrard is not Pirlo, they both have their own strengths and weaknesses, both vastly different players. Gerrard is also not good defensively, which is why Benitez played him on the right quite often, or just playing off Torres when he arrived. The likes of Alonso, Mascherano, Sissoko, Hamann, etc, did the defensive work. So whats make them think he'll be great defensively when he never has been throughout his career? Liverpool should play Gerrard, the way we do Lampard, as an attacking midfielder, not a defensive one. He's only 34, not ancient, he'll still score goals, and get assists. He may feel he's contributing more positively to the team, and decide instead to stay. I think he still has something to offer, even if he won't necessarily start every week, but this "defensive playmaker" role is turning him into a passenger. The experiment didn't work in Brazil, and Rodgers should have dropped it when the season started.

Absolutely 100% spot on. People don't realise how specialist that deep-lying playmaker position is. It takes years to master the tactical nuances of the role, which is why Xavi, Xabi Alonso and Pirlo all peaked in their early 30s. The idea that Gerrard could move back there and play like Pirlo just epitomises English arrogance and the severe lack of genuine knowledge in the media.

If I were a Liverpool fan I'd certainly be very confused and concerned with Rodgers' team set up and tactics.

What on earth are they doing? Sterling is the most dangerous player. They spent £45 million on two wingers in Markovic & Lallana.

Yet their manager, the Premier league manager of the year is playing fucking wing backs.
Watching them tonight, I have no idea what is going on. Where is Courtinho playing?

He has spent all that money, much the same as the turtle and we're aover half way through the season and they still have no shape. No identity, no system. More importantly no coherence.

What I don't get, Mancini doing much better in the league than either Brenda or the turtle was rightly in my option getting stick from everywhere for not knowing his best tea,ms witching from 343 to his own variation of 442.

I honestly don't see a game plan, they look very shaky at the back. Poor through the middle and have no threat up top.

It's January, they spent £100 plus million, what are they doing? How is Rodgers not getting more stick?

It's a bit like wee Davie was, months in and no pattern. As a fan you could understand a team under performing but with a system, like Martinez and Everton, but just changing week in week out just smacks of cluelessness.

I don't get it with Rodgers, he had a system at Swansea, then implemented it with better players at Liverpool.
He loses 1 player and it's all gone to shit.

Being found out.

About Leslie's standard certainly no better.

Had to laugh when Gerrard said he wished he had come to the club ten years earlier.

Deluded man is our Stevie who may have damaged more than his pride when he fell on his Arse.

He will be gone in the summer.
